I am so glad we didn't buy tickets for MNSSHP. We were going to go Friday night but we are spending 10 nights in BC/Poly and I cheaped out with spending the extra $350 for our family. I know a lot people just say put on ponchos and forge ahead but we do it for a little while and then decide to come back to the resort. We were at the MK today and it started raining hard, we rode a few rides in tomorrowland and then decided to come back to the resort. Glad we did since it started torrentially raining and very windy, we would of gotten drenched even with ponchos.
It seems like the storm has moved north and is really not going to effect Orlando as much as they thought it was.
I was able to change our flights for no charge through Southwest to tomorrow. Then I called Disney to see if I could get a room only reservation for Wednesday night and they told me I could add to my existing reservation and get free dining for that night. Crazy! It is the same time flight, so we will now land at 8:30 tomorrow night. Hope that is better, or at least it gives us more wiggle room if something gets delayed tomorrow.
The problem isn't hitting Orlando, the problem is the majority of the heavy torrential rain bands will be south of the storm in the outer bands as it makes land fall. That puts Orlando right in the cross hairs for a ton of rain. It looks like it may have skirted somewhat to the north, so that will limit some of the rain, but it will be here and it will be heavy. Thursday is a washout, unfortunately it was the only day I could get FP's for the Mine Train, so it looks like I'll miss it, yet again.Weather channel issued a Hurricane watch for Florida Gulf coast. They keep saying they don't know for sure what it's going to do. Some pictures have it above Orlando. Some have Orlando getting 5 inches on Thursday and Friday.
those ponchos are worse than the actual rain. Who wants to be wearing a trashbag in 85-90 degree Florida heat and humidity. Then you get the bonus of being soaked in sweat and rain, lovely combination. We already have tickets for this Fri. MNSSHP...I totally agree with you that the whole "just put on a poncho and enjoy" thing is just not for us. Weather can make such a difference in level of enjoyment for us. We've been here since Sat. and haven't been thrilled by the weather. We've had ponchos on each day multiple times. I know it could be worse, but I'm really hoping for a miracle and the rain gets the heck out of here.
At least you'll get an anytime fp you can use at another attraction. The problem isn't hitting Orlando, the problem is the majority of the heavy torrential rain bands will be south of the storm as it makes land fall. Maybe it's just bad choices in Parks and/or timing but we haven't been able to get more than about 2-3 hours starlight without having torrential rain soak us over the last 3 days.I am so glad we didn't buy tickets for MNSSHP. We really have ZERO interest in attractions like Peter Pan, Dumbo, Pooh, etc...But Peter Pan lines will be short since NO ONE will be at MK!
They'll send you an email alert if your fp ride is closed due to rain or for another reason. You will be able to use an anytime fp during the day at a list of attractions. Space mountain is one of those attractions. How?
and also that really doesn't matters I guess you agree with your ducking
All of the radars show it no where near Orlando.. obviously it will still effect Orlando a bit but I dont think theres reason to freak out. Am I the only one surprised that this many people are panicking? Its september... in florida... this happens every year.....
Maybe I'm the crazy one but I just don't see anything to worry over!
Not a reason for panicking but also not normal September rain either. All of the radars show it no where near Orlando.. obviously it will still effect Orlando a bit but I dont think theres reason to freak out. Having been in hurricane/TS country most of my life, the heaviest rains (and tornado threats) are usually to the forward right (east) of the storms. The forecasts I have been seeing calls for 'heavy' rains in the Orlando area.
Yes, hopefully you are right, but yes, there 'are' concerns, and it is 'not' typical weather that just 'happens' in Sept. Don't know where you live, but we know to watch such weather at this time, and not just discount it as 'normal'!
No, not panic time, but careful observation!
