Forecast - thunderstorms next 10 days

Just depends how LONG it rains each day.

I went last year with a TS/Hurricane off the east coast of Floriday (never made landfall) and that caused bands of thunderstorms to hit every day .. but only lasted a few hours each.

We are also flying from CO (DIA) and are expected to land at 8:30 Thursday night. My husband is already freaking out- wants us to be prepared to leave at a moments notice if there is a weather alert issued. We are also a family of 6- I am not sure how we will all be together for a different flight. It is very stressful!

(I don't know why my ticker says 4 days- it has always been off a day, our flight is Thursday!)

You guys will be flying out right behind us!! I really pray we can all get out and get there safely. We are prepared to split 3/3 if we need to for another flight but we couldn't go any less than that. The problem is these flights out are always packed full (from DIA) and they have cut the number of flights we have also (at least for our carrier).

I went on Accuweather. It had it raining Wed, Thurs, and Friday. After that it was sunny with a chance of rain/storms. Doesn't look bad.

Add us to the group. We are supposed to land at 10:45 pm on Thursday. I am now debating buying a cancellable ticket for Friday morning, as I do not want to miss MNSSHP.

Two Septembers ago, we got stuck in the radar fire fiasco and ended up spending 13 hours at O'Hare, never got on a flight, and had to leave 24 hours after we were supposed to leave. I'm having flashbacks to that fun time. So, now I am working out my "worst case scenarios." First is my refundable ticket idea. Second, if we end up missing MNSSHP, I am hoping we can rebook for the Oct 28th party. When the worst case is having to book an additional spontaneous trip to WDW, it makes it easier not to worry so much.

I'm still hoping we can get out on Thursday night (or Friday morning at the very latest), but I am mentally ready for whatever Mother Nature throws our way. Fingers crossed that we all get there with no issues!!

Eeeek for all of you arriving, I wish you the best.We are on day 6/12 and I intentionally played MNSSHP by ear so probably won't be doing it this year as we BTDT. We'll be hunkering down at the best place possible, AKL Jambo House concierge.

Thanks to everyone who has posted links to the forecast. We are not arriving until Sunday but anytime flying is involved you never know what you may be dealing with delay wise.

and DS 4 who is flying for the first time!

As long as the parents are cool about it, kids tend to see turbulence as fun. Keep him(! dang, I noticed the S part and thought "boy" and wrote "her" anyway) buckled in, of course!

if our flight does get cancelled, how will they find room for all the people who need to get out on future flights (every flight we take from CO to MCO is packed full)?? Will we be split up? Spending the night at the airport?

Keep an eye on the airport and airline sites. If there are delays starting, get on the phone. Get yourself booked earlier. Get to the airport early. Pay attention. If something is cancelled, be in the physical line, be on the phone, and be on your computer/another phone on the airline's app. Get yourself scheduled for a later flight any way you can. Don't trust just getting in line or being on the phone etc. Be "in line" multiple ways. That's how we got out with just a 5 hour delay on the day Delta went entirely offline for 5 hours.

Decide how you'll split if it's needed. Be prepared to snooze at the airport; make it fun! Keep everyone fed and hydrated.

He is absolutely correct. Do it.

Decide! Think about it.

What airline are you on? What interline agreements do they have? If you're on Alaska, start looking at Delta flights, etc.

While I think the OP got some bad info, and I don't believe that this is going to happen.....

Back in, May, I believe, a few years back there WAS a storm like that in the Orlando area. People were absolutely miserable. It did rain all day and not just for one day. So it *can* happen. It's just not likely.

Yep. I forget how many years ago that was, but the rain was ridiculous on that particular May vacation. It just never quit for days on end.

We are driving UP from South Florida on Friday afternoon for Labor Day weekend. I'm watching the weather and wondering if we should cancel. Of course, if everyone cancels, and locals stay home, that would be a great time to be there!
That is pretty much what I am selfishly hoping for. The more TD9 hype the better right now IMO

We are on Southwest. I just learned what a 'contract of carriage' is and was trying to read through it this morning. I am not sure what interline agreements they have.

We are on Southwest, too! And we almost took that earlier flight when we were originally booking. I haven't read deep into their website yet, but when my husband called them this morning, they said that as soon as there is a "Weather Alert" warning on their main booking page, that you can then change your flight for no charge within a day or two of the original. But- I know most of the flights are already "Sold Out"/full.

Looking at the storm path, I am still hopeful that the main issue will be rain and by Thursday evening the storm will be moving to the north making Orlando on the end. But I know there is no predicting where it will truly land.

That is good to know that we can change at no charge but just not sure how they will accommodate that many people (and families on their way to Disney who cannot be too split up). I know these things come up all the time though so trying not to worry about the specifics at this point. We almost took the earlier flight but not sure that would have been better. I think all of Thursday is going to be a mess.

Well, we may see you at the airport. My family will be the ones in the aqua blue matching shirts. We made them for our trip two years ago and are wearing them again. So, if you see six people in aqua matching shirts, come say hi!

Not sure they have any. But people will start changing and cancelling their trips, so people will move around if things get official.

Weather channel issued a Hurricane watch for Florida Gulf coast. They keep saying they don't know for sure what it's going to do. Some pictures have it above Orlando. Some have Orlando getting 5 inches on Thursday and Friday.

It's funny because I am from New Jersey and they are forecasting it to come up to us for Labor Day Weekend. We will be in Disney. I told my husband we lucked out missing it twice! lol

I am so glad we didn't buy tickets for MNSSHP. We were going to go Friday night but we are spending 10 nights in BC/Poly and I cheaped out with spending the extra $350 for our family. I know a lot people just say put on ponchos and forge ahead but we do it for a little while and then decide to come back to the resort. We were at the MK today and it started raining hard, we rode a few rides in tomorrowland and then decided to come back to the resort. Glad we did since it started torrentially raining and very windy, we would of gotten drenched even with ponchos.

I was able to change our flights for no charge through Southwest to tomorrow. Then I called Disney to see if I could get a room only reservation for Wednesday night and they told me I could add to my existing reservation and get free dining for that night. Crazy! It is the same time flight, so we will now land at 8:30 tomorrow night. Hope that is better, or at least it gives us more wiggle room if something gets delayed tomorrow.

Got our first ocps (orange county public schools) update, they are monitoring the storm. My daughter is praying for a storm strong enough to close schools on Friday but not that bad that it will cause any destruction :) I don't think it'll be bad enough to close schools
