Forecast - thunderstorms next 10 days

American has issued their travel alert for the depression. Go to aa.com. MCO is NOT on the list. TPA is. This makes me think AA has some confidence that disruptions at MCO will be relatively minor.

I am so glad we didn't buy tickets for MNSSHP. We were going to go Friday night but we are spending 10 nights in BC/Poly and I cheaped out with spending the extra $350 for our family. I know a lot people just say put on ponchos and forge ahead but we do it for a little while and then decide to come back to the resort. We were at the MK today and it started raining hard, we rode a few rides in tomorrowland and then decided to come back to the resort. Glad we did since it started torrentially raining and very windy, we would of gotten drenched even with ponchos.

We already have tickets for this Fri. MNSSHP...I totally agree with you that the whole "just put on a poncho and enjoy" thing is just not for us. Weather can make such a difference in level of enjoyment for us. We've been here since Sat. and haven't been thrilled by the weather. We've had ponchos on each day multiple times. I know it could be worse, but I'm really hoping for a miracle and the rain gets the heck out of here.

I think Friday might not wind up being a wash out. Now it is saying only 50% chance of rain Friday. So hopefully the MNSSHP will be mostly rain free. It seems like the storm has moved north and is really not going to effect Orlando as much as they thought it was.

I was able to change our flights for no charge through Southwest to tomorrow. Then I called Disney to see if I could get a room only reservation for Wednesday night and they told me I could add to my existing reservation and get free dining for that night. Crazy! It is the same time flight, so we will now land at 8:30 tomorrow night. Hope that is better, or at least it gives us more wiggle room if something gets delayed tomorrow.

We rebooked for tomorrow too! Five of us are on the same flight and my dh is on your flight lol. We are hoping we can get him on ours standby. hey said it would be an option due to the weather. Thank you for sharing the info! At this point, we have no where to stay. I will call Disney in the morning.

Just fyi for others, SWA DOES have MCO under a travel advisory.

The forecast has slightly changed as of this morning, well at least the percentages of rain have gone down... I think it will still be wet not a total ruin! Attitude is everything and I've already started preparing my family for a wet weekend flip-flops shorts and ponchos for us!

I am more concerned with whether the plane will fly around a Storm or Hurricane like TD9 or just cancel the flight. I know they can't fly over due to rapid decent emergencies. Winds on Friday are SW 23 MPH. From Milwaukee the plane will still need to go over the storm at some point.

Maybe an airline pilot can chime in on that. This is why we plan nada on arrival day.

Weather channel issued a Hurricane watch for Florida Gulf coast. They keep saying they don't know for sure what it's going to do. Some pictures have it above Orlando. Some have Orlando getting 5 inches on Thursday and Friday.
The problem isn't hitting Orlando, the problem is the majority of the heavy torrential rain bands will be south of the storm in the outer bands as it makes land fall. That puts Orlando right in the cross hairs for a ton of rain. It looks like it may have skirted somewhat to the north, so that will limit some of the rain, but it will be here and it will be heavy. Thursday is a washout, unfortunately it was the only day I could get FP's for the Mine Train, so it looks like I'll miss it, yet again.

those ponchos are worse than the actual rain. Who wants to be wearing a trashbag in 85-90 degree Florida heat and humidity. Then you get the bonus of being soaked in sweat and rain, lovely combination.

At least you'll get an anytime fp you can use at another attraction. :duck:

Maybe it's just bad choices in Parks and/or timing but we haven't been able to get more than about 2-3 hours starlight without having torrential rain soak us over the last 3 days.

I'm ready to raise the white flag.

But Peter Pan lines will be short since NO ONE will be at MK!

How?

and also that really doesn't matters I guess you agree with your ducking
They'll send you an email alert if your fp ride is closed due to rain or for another reason. You will be able to use an anytime fp during the day at a list of attractions. Space mountain is one of those attractions.

All of the radars show it no where near Orlando.. obviously it will still effect Orlando a bit but I dont think theres reason to freak out. Am I the only one surprised that this many people are panicking? Its september... in florida... this happens every year.....

Maybe I'm the crazy one but I just don't see anything to worry over!

Having been in hurricane/TS country most of my life, the heaviest rains (and tornado threats) are usually to the forward right (east) of the storms. The forecasts I have been seeing calls for 'heavy' rains in the Orlando area.

Yes, hopefully you are right, but yes, there 'are' concerns, and it is 'not' typical weather that just 'happens' in Sept. Don't know where you live, but we know to watch such weather at this time, and not just discount it as 'normal'!
No, not panic time, but careful observation!

Not a reason for panicking but also not normal September rain either.
This will be rain and wind associated with a tropical system and although the center of circulation won't pass over Orlando we will get heavy bands of rain, a possibility of tornadoes and wind gusts.

I live in Georgia, not very far and have spent a LOT of time in Florida.. I totally understand what you're saying about being careful/prepared I've been in the middle of hurricanes/tornados before but I just don't see anything that you all are seeing! Definitely not enough to be changing flights and cancelling plans
