Forbidden Journey Refurbishment

My sister and I are heading to Universal on Sunday for a 1 day, 2 park WWHP-focused trip. We know that Forbidden Journey is closed til the 19th, but we're wondering if the castle is still open for tours. Anyone know? Thanks!

We were there last weekend and toured the castle. It was very sad to not get on the ride.

It's supposed to be closed through December 18th (reopen on the 19th).

I'm hoping it reopens on time so we will be able to ride during our trip.

I imagine there will be a lot of pressure to have it open on time, what with it being so close to Christmas and the huge crowds.

Yup. Its first refurbishment.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I wonder if they will fix the part in which you get attacked by the Dementors and they show your face as they try to suck your soul. Not that it's necessarily important to the ride, but it will be interesting to see if something is done about it.

They seem to be continually working on this. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I know in the past it would come and go, but I ended up not having a pass for quite awhile and once I decided to get one again in March I noticed every time I've been on the ride it has been down. I just assumed it was non-operational and they decided to do nothing as it isn't necessarily important for it needed to be operational for the ride.

Oh man, we just had to walk through yesterday afternoon! We caught the very last Hogwarts Express over there last night, so it was too late to even go in Hogsmeade. Maybe we'll check tonight!

We went approx 7pm and the wait time was 45 min. We opted to go single rider and basically walked straight thru till the end and waited maybe 10 min. only bad thing is in single rider line you don't get to see the castle. We were pressed for time and our whole group wanted to ride so we did single rider. We are gonna go back Monday and walk thru. I will warn you that it seems to be more intense than before. I don't remember it leaning you back quite that far more than once?? But you definitely are completely on your back quite a few times and couple times I felt like I was coming up out of the seat and sliding backwards!!

When is the last time you've been on the ride before this? I ask since it seems lately (before the refurb) that when I've been on it I've felt the same way about the ride. It's been going back the same amount of times, but I've been feeling like it's been leaning back a little further than it normally has been in the past. This is relatively recently, but before the refurb.

I don't think the ride itself was changed at all. Just repairs were made.

for some reason i was sure it was closed in January. I must of just had the wrong month

We went on tonight! No wait at all--just walk through and right on. My DD is on her 3rd time in the last hour with a stop at Honeydukes and butter beer ice cream in between!
