I will wait until my son can be vaccinated (he is 16 months). By that time he will be old enough to have to wear a mask according to current rules, and unless he greatly improves with things like hats and sunglasses, I don't think we can get him to comply.

I'm mostly concerned with what the protocol will be if someone tests positive. Will they stop the cruise? Will we be quarantined? Etc. For that reason, I'd prefer everyone be vaccinated.

I would be open to sailing in any of these scenarios. I think the only reason I wouldn't if is masks were required in the pool (we spend a lot of time in/around the pools with drinks) or just lounging outside in general (I assume lounge chairs would be spaced apart already.)

Other than that, I say I'm vaccinated and ready to sail!

Everyone vaccinated and limited social distancing. So self serve buffets but have someone serve it (cafeteria style). Triple the hand sanitizer stations (they already had them precovid).

I guess if they prove that children can not get or give the virus then they would not have to be vaccinated. But, anyone over 18 must be vaccinated.

Now, I don't know what they will require as proof, because the printed index cards with the stickers will be easy to counterfeit.

In The UK and other countries the vaccination programs are linked to the countries equivalent of American Social Security number. For the UK sailings this summer, vaccination status can be checked on the National Health Service App.

The WHO is working with the various countries in Europe and the plan is that by July, the various vaccination databases will be linked and there will be a digital vaccine passport to allow international travel between the countries in Europe.

People are already selling fake CDC cards. 😒 Someone will always try to beat the system. I suspect that the % of people using a fake vax card would be low (in general) so while not ideal it would at least be some form of proof.

Our vaccines are linked to our state health departments. I did have to sign allowing my information to be provided to the CDC. I think that here in the United States it would be a good idea to note the vaccinations on the State ID or Driver's license (the same idea as the donor "heart").

Like I said before, the only proof I have that I have been vaccinated in the 3x5 index card pre printed and my information is handwritten in by the tech that took it in barely legible handwriting. I then have the sticker with the Moderna batch information.

I would post a pic, but anyone who has been vaccinated knows what it looks like and anyone who hasn't could easily duplicate it.

Not possible for those of us that live in Florida. According to Desantis's Executive Order:

"No Florida government entity, or its subdivisions, agents, or assigns, shall be permitted to issue vaccine passports, vaccine passes, or other standardized documentation for the purpose of certifying an individual's COVID-19 vaccination status to a third party, or otherwise publish or share any individual's COVID-19 vaccination record or similar health information"

Just wanted to add that our provincial government is currently discussing a solution so people from Quebec who travel can present proof of vaccination in other countries. It's not a done deal yet but it's on the table.

Down the line, when international travel opens up, whatever the Canadian Government is doing most likely will eventually be comparable and compatible with what The EU and UK are doing, which will eventually open travel between Canada and UK / EU.

Private companies will just do it. Real Clear is already working on it and I suspect others will not be far behind. As was already pointed out, other countries are already saying it will be required as a condition of entry. I'm not worried about this part - someone will fill the need and cruise lines can rely on those services.

I wonder how those 3rd party private companies will get your data to include in their app...are THEY going to accept your CDC card as proof? If they can't link to some source of the data, they can't provide that proof on your behalf.

In you quotes you say "Florida" government, but it could be Federally issued. I mean you will need a passport or real id to fly eventually. If PROOF of vaccination is required to travel then even your Governor will have to concede and abide by Federal law.

BTW, no one especially me is saying it will be done. I am saying it could be done. A vaccine passport is a little ridiculous anyway. As far as standardized documentation, I think
the vaccination card people receive is as standard as you can get.

Probably the same way that schools get your vaccination records. State Health Departments have all that data. Military personnel have to get so many vaccines, traveling to other countries require certain vaccines, colleges and nursing schools etc.

I assume you fill out a form that allows whoever has that data to share it with the company.

In CA the CA immunization Registry will share data with authorized entities. I suspect other states have similar databases. I can see a private sector opportunity for a phone based app that will retrieve records from each state and provide a standardized "proof of vaccination"

That sounds very convenient!

Except majority of people have never left the US.

The American tourism dollars are good enough that Europe will find a way to get them back there at some point. Something like $150-$200b in tourism dollars on international travel.

The US will never do it as a country so either they will block Americans moving forward or give an alternative.

I'm cautious with Covid so I would want more restrictions if I was to go now but I don't think it is worth the cost to go if the experience is vastly different and masks are required to lay by the pool, Castaway Cay etc. I also can't picture being comfortable eating in a large indoor dining room with many cruisers at this point. In reality, I probably wouldn't go until masks are not required but it still feels safe (everyone vaccinated or Covid is not a concern).

I got vaccinated in FL in March, but if Europe can get it together this summer with the digital vaccine passport, I'm thinking of getting another shot in Europe (I've got dual citizenship). Has anyone found any information on the risks/benefits of getting two vaccines?
