Okay...i'm hoping I don't get in trouble for this....Has anyone had their monthly women issues while they were on their honeymoon?? Because I am suppose to have mine the week we are on ours!!! I am on the pill and was wondering if it is possible to skip the last week (the week you are to get your you know what) and start a new pack? I really don't feel like being moody and bloated :rotfl: I hope this doesn't get me flamed :rolleyes1

I would speak with your OB/GYN about it. I know that when you are taking the pill...depending on which one...it is possible to skip the sugar pills and miss your "time of the month" but you definitely need to talk to you doctor because they are the only one familiar with you and your body.

i run packs together on a fairly regularish basis, if i dont want one at a certain time for instance. ive never had a problem but its best to ask your doctor to make sure

Yes, you can do this. Just check with your doctor first but it works well for me.

I've done this before and it works fine...I would still check with the doc first :)

I used to work in an OB/GYN office, this is one of the most asked questions! Just ask your doctor. It usually takes a phone call. He will probably tell you it is okay, but to ensure no pregnancy use an alternative contraceptive. (if that is a concern).

I used to skip the sugar pills entirely and go right to a new pack to suppress menstruation because I had bleeding problems. Some pills are safe to do that with, but there's no way to tell if you'd experience break-through bleeding or not. Another thing to ask your OBGYN about is if you can stop your pills now, get your period mid-cycle, and then start the pills again once you get it. I've done that once before but it is definitely not something to be done without the supervision of your OBGYN.

well does anyone happen to be on Ovcon??? :teeth:

I was for awhile, that's one of the pills I suppressed with because it has a higher estrogen rate. Ask your doctor tomorrow to be sure.

Don't feel silly asking!!! Our wedding is in July and I actually just went through my entire calendar counting days to see if I would be in the clear ;) I get really sick with mine and I was worried!!

:rotfl2: I DID THE SAME THING!! Our wedding is in April and I'm just about to start BC for the first time. Before I started it, though, I wanted to make sure that I was not going to start the pill on a week that would make me have problems for my wedding! Too funny!! :)

Just as a warning, though, there are some of us for whom that doesn't work. :/ My period seems to know it is time to come, whether I skip the placebo week or not.

My ob/gyn actually asked me! She said "now, have you made sure you won't have it for your wedding and honeymoon?" :lmao: I've done that for years, just adjusted weeks, but I had my doctor's approval and had been on the same pills forever.

Here's a tip - I counted backwards from the wedding/honeymoon a couple of months. Then I moved it so it would be a week before the wedding. But since I adjusted it two months before the wedding, if there were any issues with moving it (break-through bleeding, etc.) it would happen then, not right before the wedding or during the honeymoon.

I'm no longer on the pill but when i was i had the exact same problem. If i continued taking the pill when i was due on i would still come on regardless. It was very frustrating :furious: as it seemed to work for evryone else i knew. Sad as it seems when we come to booking the wedding i ll be making SURE the wedding day falls on a day where im well & truely clear of my period

It's a little better now that I'm on a higher dose (but still considered low dose, just not ultra low dose) pill. I'm 5'9" and 140, so my doctor thought the ultra low dose pill I was on (Mircette) just may not have been a high enough dose for someone my size.

But I still can't skip my period completely. I can shift it around a bit, but it takes a few months notice.

i have noticed that when I started taking the pill, (I had to take it without the placebo, for medical reasons) it took about three months before my body realized "hey we aren't doing periods anymore". The first few months I had a lot of spotting, but it took about three cycles before my periods stopped completely.

So FYI depending on your body, even if you changed your way of taking the pill now, it may not make a difference in a month, you may still have your period regardless.

Definitely check with your doctor although it shouldn't be a problem. Just ask them about all the options you have - the most common advice is to skip the sugar pills and that doesn't always have the desired effect.

My first vacation away with my BF (now DF), I was supposed to have it and we were going to the Caribbean so I skipped the sugar pills (as my dr recommended) and while I didn't have the "light spotting" she said was possible, I was extremely bloated, still crampy and the next three cycles were heavier and longer than usual by about three-four days each. After the trip my dr said "next time we can do it a different way and maybe the after effects won't be as bad". I haven't actually needed to change my cycle since so I don't know what she meant.

Not a bride, but I do this for vacations. I talked to my OB/GYN about Seasonale, but he said that nearly every woman he's prescribed it to has had breakthrough bleeding for the first few months and found it more annoying than a regular period. You should be able to skip the inactive pills to suppress the withdrawal bleeding with any birth control pill, but it doesn't always work right away. The www.noperiod.com website has this to say about planning your period around your honeymoon:
I don't want to have my period during my honeymoon. Help Me!
The most important question, is when is your honeymoon? If you are already on birth control pills it is very easy to just skip the spacer or period pills for the week when you are having your honeymoon. Then the next month you can just go back to having the monthly withdrawal bleeding or period on the birth control pill. Remember it is very important to not miss pills or take your pill late or you could get some spotting and blood on that new bathing suit. You could also change the time for your period a few months ahead of time so your scheduled period will be after, and not during, your honeymoon. By changing the schedule a six months before there will be less risk of unexpected bleeding.

That website always recommends talking to your doctor first.

i know so many of my friends who have done it.. i personally havent tried it, but def. speak with your doc first..
