For two people at a moderate is a room discount better than free dining

Hello: Just curious why do some people prefer a room discount rather than the free dining discount. I am assuming they will pay out of pocket for meals at disney venues. Does that work out cheaper?

If you had a room rate of $365 per night and had a 30% discount, then the cost of the dining plan for two versus the room discount would be about the same amount of money. The only way the room only discount would be a better value, in my opinion, is if you were staying at a deluxe resort.

The other factor is what type meals you like to eat. In order to figure out which discount is best, look at your dining preferences and weigh the cost difference. If you prefer more expensive meals the dining plan may be a better deal.

The best way is to to look at menus and go from there. Good luck!

I have figured out that for hubby and I the meal plan would be a sure savings.

We get two rooms in a moderate, one for daughter who is chronically ill with migraines. She can usually get out til about two p.m. after that she is bedridden. We usually do a large meal tableservice at noon so she can get to enjoy it too. In this case I will have to figure out which one is best.
