We're (me, DW, DD (17), DS (9)) booked at Ho-Jo's in a theme park view room. For an extra $100 (Money isn't the issue) we can stay @ Candy Cane Inn with a package that includes, most notably, preferred seating @ CA and entry to Toontown Madness. We also get some little stuff like four pins and a backpack. Candy Cane has free breakfast. Are the walks equivalent? What would you do and why?
TIA

May I ask who you are booking the Candy Cane Inn package through?

I only ask because I have the same dilema but I have not found anyone who offers a Candy Cane Inn package.

Thanks,

Tate

We have not stayed at CCI, but have stayed at HOJO's. From what I have read the advantages to CCI are the dedicated shuttle and breakfast. Disadvantages are smaller rooms.

We loved HOJO.

Do you think you will be using the pool area? HoJo has two nice pool areas. The CCI's pool area is pretty small.

I have always wanted to try the CCI, and with it being so close in cost, it would be a hard decision for me and I am pretty loyal to the HoJo.

The walk is the same, at least it seems like it to me.

The CCI has a shuttle though, if you're tired. They have free breakfast, which is a plus. We always grab an extra banana or apple for later and sometimes a muffin. They have the most comfy beds. There are stores close by, 7-11 and such. You get free candy canes when ever you want.

The Hojo has bigger rooms. You said you have a park view room which can be great but I've had friends get stuck with a tree view instead of the park view! Mimi's is close by. I have heard some complaints about noise but I think that depends what building you are in.

Personally I'd take CCI but then again I'm partial. I have never had anything but great service from CCI.

The walk is about the same (just over half a mile), the pools at Hojos are far superior whilst CCI has the advantage of the shuttle. The key for me are the room sizes, the CCI has very small rooms and friends who stayed there with similar age kids struggled to fit in. Hojos has bigger rooms and should be cheaper (unless CCI has dropped their prices), CCI does supply a breakfast. On the view front there was a thread on this, it was identified that the trees don't obstruct the views. Both Hotels have their fans here, don't think you can go wrong with either but for me the room size is the decider.

Hojo's. The pool at CCI is really really small. Hojo has bigger rooms, nicer pools, cheaper rates and the theme park view is awesome. So what if you have to pay for brekkie? The brekkie is nice at CCI but it is nothing to write home about. The walk is about the same. I like CCI for an adults only trip as the courtyard is lovely and peaceful and a nice place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee and a newspaper. The private shuttle at CCI is nice at the end of the Disney day. However we found sometimes it was quicker to walk back than wait for another shuttle.

Tate, Dreams Unlimited has packages for both available. At HoJo's they only quoted me a standard view room so the one I currently have is booked without a package using the mousesavers discount.

We just stayed at CCI 2 weeks ago for 6 nights. If you can, get a Premium room. There are 5 of us and we had NO problem with room size. Even had a rollaway. The premium rooms are along the back side of the property and also include breakfast brought to your room at the time you request. They were always right on time with the food and it couldn't have been more convenient. You also get a free movie rental each night if you desire. The walk was EASY but the free shuttle is always nice for the walk back after a long day. Our experience at CCI was one of the best.

How much bigger are the premium rooms? Our friends room was only a standard and they were packed in, hardly any room between the beds and the wall. When they complained they were told they could have a premium room but it was going to cost an extra $20 a night, as they were already paying $30 more than us at the Carousel they passed.

The rooms are snug at CCI unless you go for the larger room. Are you planning on the kids sleeping together? In our room, we had 2 beds and a table and two chairs. We were able to leave our luggage on the second bed. As a couple, we enjoyed CCI very much. In your situation, I would probably go with HoJo for more space. We never used the pool at CCI because we were busy playing at DL!

Sorry, off topic...

I was reading the title again for this thread, which includes HO HOs and the CANDY CANE INN, and then I had a double take of the OP's name, "disneydentist".

I think our dentist friend has a sweet tooth!:rotfl:

Back on topic, I've never stayed at CCI, but I can highly recommend HOJOs. Their furniture and decor is rather simple looking, but the rooms/property/pools are all very nice, well cared for, cheerful, and clean!:thumbsup2

If you want a rollaway, you must book a premium room at CCI. HoJo gave us a free rollaway and there was plenty of room.

CCI-plus side was breakfast, premium room breakfast brought to the room was really nice. Liked the walk better because you did not have to cross harbor, "seemed" shorter and it is really well lit at night and lots of people walking that way. We had a microwave but not sure if all rooms do or just premium. 3 tiny dresser drawers to unpack.

HoJo-better everything else IMHO except no breakfast and I didn't like the walk. I am a chicken and as you are walking harbor, everyone else leaves the sidewalk before you for the other hotels and I was scared late at night without my DH and there were times I had to take one child or the other alone back to the hotel. However, the pools are waaaay better, the rooms are much bigger and you can get a view room. Have to get a home office room for a microwave. I also liked the balcony especially in a view room in building one to watch the fireworks. Plenty of space to unpack if you like.

We also like BWPPI just for the QQ minisuite size and the very close walk!

:rotfl2: That's halarious! I just noticed it said Ho Ho's!

Don't make the decision based on the "extras" like preferred seating and Toontown. They are not worth considering IMO. Have you considered Carousel or Camelot where you could have 2 rooms and be right across the street? I would spend the money on a larger room and not worry about the perks. As a couple, we did enjoy Candy Cane Inn a lot.

I can't compare as we've never stayed in a standard room at CCI. I just know that we were satisfied with the size of the room and all of our luggage fit in the closet. We paid $159/nt.

Have stayed at both HoJo and CCI. HoJo was a premium room - quite large. 2 adults and 1 5 yr old...had lots of room to move around (not that we were there much at all). But a basic room. Recently stayed at CCI in a standard rooms with 2 queen beds. Room is much "nicer" than the HoJo. Decorations nice, shutters on windows, just looks prettier. Not as large but not in our room much so it really didn't matter to us. Liked having the breakfast available in the morning. We only took the CCI shuttle once as it happened to be there when we were leaving DL one afternoon. Wallked all the other trips...same distance as from HoJo. Nicer for me as we didn't have to cross the street with a young child (that always makes me nervous!) Pool is smaller at CCI but the entire hotel is more of a "boutique" like atmosphere whereas HoJo has a hotel atmosphere. When we go to DL again we'll go back to the CCI without any hesitation. We used a AAA package and got the Toontown passes and preferred seating. Toontown is fun but your children may not enjoy it as much as my 6 year old did. We never used the preferred seating as we were there early June and crowds were low.

Well, I think Hojo's is okay, we like both of the Sheraton's better, but are staying at CCI for the first time 9/28-9/30. I am excited as it is just the two of us and I have always read such wonderful things about it. I was pricing all hotels (even onsite w/DD's castmember rate) and CCI's rate is $99 per night - AAA rate - it is difficult to find low rates when just staying a Fri & Sat night. So, I thought, why not? It was the best rate I found and the reservationist was so nice. I am really looking forward to it, I think for two adults it will be perfect. The dedicated shuttle and breakfast are a plus for us. And no parking fees - a lot of hotels gouge for that. Good luck deciding and have a wonderful trip!:)
