Hi. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. We just made ressies for Poly Concierge. I really need a non-smoking room. I have terrible migraines that are made worse by smoke. I think I really goofed (sorry Goofy no pun intended, I love ya!!) because I asked for a top floor room. I went on Tikiman's wonderful site and discovered that top floor is smoking optional. Also the second floor only has one sink and no balcony. With two kids I think two sinks would be a great time-saver. What do you experts think?? Maybe I should ask for a first floor room. I really can't stand smoke even if they clean it it just doesn't work for us.

Thanks very much for any help!!!

All rooms in Hawaii only have 1 sink. The first floor has a patio, second floor has a railing, and third floor has a balcony. The first and second floors are non-smoking, the third floor is smoking optional.

I stayed on the 3rd floor almost 2 years ago, and wasn't bothered by smoke in the room (you could smell it in the hall).

Guess you just have to go with whatever is your priority. If you do decide second floor, it is convienent to the lounge.

CaliforniaDreaming, thanks for your input. Yes it looks like we have to go with what's most important to us, non-smoking.

THANKS!!

Well, now I guess you can decide between the 1st and 2nd floor. :) With the first floor, you'd be close to the concierge desks and have a patio. On the second floor, you'd be close to the concierge lounge, but no have a balcony (the sliding glass doors still open). If you plan on a lot of time on a patio, I'd go with the first floor. I had the lagoon view concierge, so I was very happy to be on a higher floor (as the view is better, in my opinion).

Good luck deciding! We also wanted non-smoking, but decided to give the smoking a shot since we wanted a balcony. I loved my room there! Wish I was returning to the Polynesian soon!

According to the 2002 Passporter, the following buildings are non smoking:

Rapa Nui, Tahiti, Tokelau Hawaii, Niue, Rarotonga, Fiji, Tonga, and Aotearoa.

Samoa, and Tuvalu are smoking buildings.

Tahita and Hawaii have 7 Seas Lagoon views, Hawaii, Tokelau Niue and Rarotonga have quiet pool views, Fiji and Tonga have Marina views. Rarotonga, Tonga and Aotearoa back up to the monorail, and Torotonga and Tonga are very close the Great Ceremonial House. Rapa Nui and Tahiti are closest to the TTC, and Rapa Nui has a parking lot view.

Hope this helps!

Thanks eeyore and thanks again CaliforniaDreaming. Years ago this wouldn't be as big of an issue for me, but my migraines have become worse over the years and it just isn't worth it anymore to take even a smoking optional room. I just love being able to get so much great advise. It's so much easier to know things ahead of time. Thanks again!!

I get migranes as well (not sure of the exact cause), and I know anything thing that can prevent getting one is worth it.

Have a great time, and if you have any problems at all, make sure you let the concierge staff know, they'll accommodate you.
