Hi, everyone. I'm new to posting but have been a lurker for a while now. I'm hoping some of you can help me out.

My fiance made reservations through Expedia for a flight to WDW on Delta for our honeymoon in December 2006. We just received an email that Delta has changed our itinerary. The new flight puts us leaving our home airport at 7:20 am on the morning after our evening wedding, a full 3 hours earlier than our original flight. While this is not ideal, Delta did not change the time on our connecting flight, so we now will be spending 6 hours in the Atlanta airport. :furious:

This is just not how we want to start our honeymoon. We are new to flying, but decided to splurge since it's our honeymoon ( we drove to WDW last April and were engaged there). So here's the question: For those of you with Expedia experience, do we have any recourse? What's the best way to go about changing our flight without huge cancellation fees? We're open to other airlines, especially in light of Delta's current problems.

I know you guys can help. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks in advance.

Michelle

Delta normally should allow you to change your flights or at least get you a closer connecting flights. Delta is very good when it comes to helping out in these cases. I just hope you guys can go through Delta not have to talk to Expedia.

About 3 or 4 years ago a similar thing happened to me. We had booked through Expedia and they changed our flight times. I called Expedia direct and said that the times didn't work for us and they changed them for me with no fees.

Having said that, the return flight they ultimately put us on was overbooked (which I'm sure happens frequently, but has never happened with us before or since) and we very nearly got bumped. They had to ask for volunteers to give up their tickets and if no one had volunteered, we would have had to wait another 6 hours for another flight. I'm not sure if Expedia could see that the flight was overbooked when they put us on it, but the way the whole thing went down, I just had the feeling that they did.

So, I'd call them and ask them what options you have. If you flat out say that the earlier time won't work for you, I don't see why they wouldn't allow you to change airlines.

By the way - we had a 6:30 AM flight the day after our evening wedding. That was the stupidest thing I've ever done! We stayed at a hotel at the airport the night before, but we didn't check in until after midnight. By the time we arrived at Disney, all we wanted to do was take a nap! My DH still teases me about that flaw in my planning. I figure I had been so crazy planning everything about the wedding, that I had a brain lapse on that choice.

The fact that they sent you an email telling you they changed your flight is reason to cheer.
In an 8 month (August-March) span they changed my flight about 10 times and took away our seat assignments without notifying me. It got to the point where I checked our flight status every day during the last 5 months and twice a day during the last 5 weeks.
The good part about them changing your flight is that you can make the best use of their flight schedule and request a better flight that might have been more expensive when you 1st booked your original flight, at no extra charge.
I originally booked a $165 total per person, round trip, non-stop, LATE NIGHT flight. When they changed my flight times, I requested an earlier flight at no extra charge that would have earlier cost $648 total per person.
Good Luck,
Joe

P.S. If an Airline changes your flight and they don't have anything else that works for you; you can easily request a full refund. No Problem.

for your help. We contacted Expedia today and explained the problem. The lady we spoke to was very nice and even called Delta for us. She got us a better flight than the original as far as the layover in Atlanta goes, and with no additional fees. :teeth:

I knew you guys would be able to help. Thanks again.

Michelle
