For those with Cruises after May 31

Well, I called DCL today and canceled out 6/20 Western Caribbean cruise. Cast member picked up right away. Explained to me at this she does not have any information on future cancellations. Our 50% penalty is still in effect if I did not cancel by Friday. I asked her if what I read here on Disboard was true, that if DCL cancels our cruise, I would be refunded our cancellation penalty. She said as of right now, that is correct. She told me refunds are likely to be 60days out. I told her I wasn't necessarily looking for a refund. I would be ok if they held my funds as credit for the next cruise. She said that wasn't possible. Accounting will be in touch about issuing refunds since I made some payments with Disney gift cards.
Wow nice to hear they are officially acknowledging giving refunds if you cancel before they do. Hoping to get my 20% deposit back for my cruise that we bailed on before they went up to the next penalty level. But man, I thought they would have at least cancelled through May by now. Tick tock.

CM wasn't exactly forthcoming about the refunds if we canceled before they canceled. She hesitated then stated that as of right now, that is what they are doing "at the moment".

My TA called them a couple of weeks ago......and they said if I canceled now, I would lose it all. Sail June 6.
So I am waiting for them to cancel.......would like that money back.....3 cabins worth

Weird -- did you have a restricted (VGT, OGT, IGT) rate, or concierge? If just a normal fare, two weeks ago you should have been more than 55 days before your cruise which means unless you had a restricted rate, you should have been able to cancel and just lose your deposit.

Waiting in that same limbo right now, but thankfully only one room. We've got 5 nights club level at Gran Destino booked before the cruise on the 6th and my final payment is due 5/2. I don't want to cancel that until I know what DCL is doing, but I also don't feel like giving them more money just to have to wait for a refund on everything.

I have every expectation that everything will be cancelled even though WDW is allowing reservations beginning June 1. It would just be nice to know what's happening. This was for DD's 18th birthday, HS grad (which is also a fiasco-we've got a prom dress and no place to wear it) and DS's 21st birthday.

We were in the same situation. I finally canceled our June 20th cruise on Wednesday, but I still need to cancel our room at the Riviera and park tickets. Our Fast Pass window was opened on April 15th and it was just sad not know whether we should book fast passes or not. Our final payment date is May 14th. Our family really wants to go, but deep down we all know, thats probably not going to happen this year. Double sad for my 8th grade daughter, she had her grad nite celebration at Disneyland canceled as well.

I made our FP+ selections, but it's starting to look like that was pointless.

On another thread someone told me that WDW changed their policy for final payment date to 7 days out for currently booked packages, shared the quoted text that they found, but I can't find that anywhere on the website. I was wondering if it doesn't apply to our stay because technically we're booked for after the point where they're taking reservations. But I can't even find that mentioned anywhere in the temporary policy changes, only fee waivers for cancellations through June. Currently on the phone with Guest Services, and while she's aware of that change, she's having a hard time finding the information to confirm that it would apply to my stay. She's calling someone else to ask. - Confirmed, not in writing anywhere that she could find, but she did note my account. Said I will still receive reminders to pay by 5/2 because they're system generated, but that they will not cancel if I don't. Applies to arrivals through June 30th.

Last night it dawned on me that we could even have an issue just getting there. We always drive, and who knows when the various restrictions will be lifted in the states we pass through. I had to drive my son back to his college apartment to get a few things just when this all started. Even that 3 hour drive was rough with all of the rest stops closed in PA.

I just want them to cancel the cruise at this point so I can stop thinking about it. I don't want to make the decision and lose money. Hubby will never let me rebook if we lose thousands because of this. I'd really prefer a refund to cruise credit, in the event that something else prevents the next cruise from happening. But at this point, I might even be ok with them extending the dates for the temporary cancellation policy to allow us to get 100% credit back beyond May 31st.

I waited for more than a month (since early March) for DCL to extend the "flexible cancellation policy" because I had a mid June sailing coming up. Unfortunately, it never happened and I ended up taking the nonrefundable deposit hit (thankfully, it was only 10% because I booked with a placeholder). I honestly don't understand why DCL hasn't extended the policy, perhaps because it intends to resume sailing in June. If that is the case, I would still not feel comfortable going and will be okay with the penalty. However, if DCL decides to keep my deposit after cancelling the sailing, then it won't see another dime from me (I am not counting on or expecting it, though).

Why not just cancel and rebook in a couple of months if cruises are set to sail? If it does sail they will most likely be offering discounts.

Barring special dispension from a bankruptcy court, they cannot legally keep money that you paid them for a cruise that they chose to cancel.

That's good to know if DCL is legally required to do that. Based on my own interpretation (which can be wrong), I have decided to cancel my reservation at a time when the sailing is still on schedule to proceed. Whatever happens afterward should have no bearing on a decision I had made a few months ago, which is kind of why I am a bit upset that DCL hasn't extended the "flexible cancellation policy" more than a month since the initial announcement.

Honestly, if I do get the deposit back, I would consider it a goodwill gesture from DCL and much appreciate it!

You guys probably already know this, DCL has canceled Dream and Fantasy cruise through 6/17. They keep playing with my emotions. Mine was 6/20. Guess I'll wait some more and see if they finally cancels our cruise. Anyone who canceled their cruise before DCL canceled, did you get any emails from DCL returning your deposit or offering you 125% cruise credit?

DCL has finally cancelled your cruise. Hopefully you can get a full refund back.

No I was not aware. That must have literally just changed. I checked the site when I got up this morning and it still had the previous cancellation dates. Just looking at it again and now the new cancellation dates are posted. So sad to not be going on our amazing vacation that we had planned, but at least I have an answer now.

Scott has a report on the canceled cruises and you can hear a recorded message at DCL.

Yep, finally cancelled. TA is going to deal with the refund now.
We are going to rebook but more than 15 months from now, so I want the cash back.
I did cancel the before and after rooms.
Still have air to deal with

The cancellation verbiage for May said that you could cancel up until a day before the cruise and have that as a future cruise credit. Now as of today's new cancellations, I am not seeing that verbiage for June sailings. Anyone else seeing it?

It is in the email they are sending out from what Scott posted... I'm not seeing it mentioned specifically in the official announcement on their website though.

I'm going to lock this thread also as OP has their answer and we have several of these cancellation threads going...
