Do you call back numbers you do not recognize, even if they do not leave a message?
I have always found this interesting. Sometimes the kids friends will call and not leave messages. In those situations I will tell the kids their friends number is on the caller ID, there is no message, but they are allowed to call back. I have friends of myown who dont always leave messages, and I will call them back. I dont always call my friends back right away, I figured if it were that important, they would leave me a message.
BUT, if there is a strange number on there, and no message I do not call back. I always figure that this is just a wrong number, or that person will call back.

On to the 2nd question,.do you screen your calls? Do you always check your caller ID before picking up? I will say 98% of the time I pickup. The only exceptions are if its my husbands friends and he is not home. I mean his friends dont want talk to me ;) If I am running out the door, and the phone is ringing I will look at the caller ID, and if it is one of my very "Chatty " Friends I will let the phone ring. LOL

I do some phone work for a local dog rescue group. People leave messages on the voice mail for the group(not my number the rescue group number). I call back, if the voice mail picks up I leave a very DETAILED message. Normally people want to find new homes for their dogs, and our group is not taking any new dogs at this time. So I leave a very detailed message about this, and even supply an alternative phone number they will try. And it never fails, people will call me back on my home number(WHich irks me)and say "oh I saw this number on my caller ID"... DUH... did you check the message first? OK, I did not say that.I think that though.
My point is, people do not recognize my number and call me back without checking messages.

I usually don't call the number back if it's one I don't recognize.

I almost always, probably 99.9% of the time, check the caller ID before I answer the phone. A few times I haven't and I was sorry when I heard a voice on the other end that I wasn't in the mood to talk to right then lol ;)

NO! I don't do that and I think it's a little psycho! My sister does it constantly. I asked her once, haven't you ever heard of wrong numbers??? GEEZ! Just the other day I was trying to call DH and ended up dialing a wrong number. Lo and behold, there was that number showing up on my caller ID.

I definitely screen my calls. I hate talking on the phone, so 9 times out of 10 I don't answer.

I screen my calls. Most times I will not pick it up regardless. I call back when time allows me, and when I have plenty of it (time).

Definately screen the calls. As far as calling numbers I don't recognize... Nope. I figure if they want to talk to us they will call back.

I always screen my calls and I NEVER call back numbers I don't know. It drives me crazy when people do it to me. I think people that have time to call back numbers they don't know on their caller id have wayyyy too much time on their hands. I don't have time to call the people back I need to call.

I have been guilty of just using the caller id to call people back. Many times I don't have a piece of paper or a pen handy when I listen to messages or my hands are full, so I just hit the number on the phone and call back that way. I have also done it because sometimes its hard to understand numbers when its on a machine.

I screen my calls and usually don't return calls that don't leave a message. If it's that important, leave a message. One neat feature of having Dish Network satellite is that the caller ID pops up on the TV screen so I don't even have to get out of my Lazy-boy to see who's calling!

I don't call the number back unless there is a message and I do screen all the calls.

I don't call back anyone who doesn't leave a message, unless it's my fathers number. I do check the caller ID before I pick up the phone.

I only look at the caller ID before answering a call. Don't check to see who called when I'm out if they don't leave a message I figure it wasn't important. But DH checks the caller ID everytime he gets home and will call back anyone that called except if he doesn't know the number.

I screen all my calls and hardly ever pick up. I hate talking on the phone.

I will not call back numbers I know and I definitely will not call back numbers I don't know.

You'll be lucky if I call back when you leave a message here for me, I just don't call back unless I obsolutely have to.

My cellphone has the option to set up different ring tones---I have one tune for DH, one for my family, one for my friends & one for any other number coming in. If my phone plays that last tune, I don't answer it. :rotfl:

The only numbers I call back are the telemarketers. I call when I know they aren't open to see if there's an option to be put on the no call list. I've got free long distance, so it doesn't bother me to make those phone calls if I know I'll be left alone. I've done it with the last 5 or 6 long distance calls and have never heard back, it's kinda nice.

I ALWAYS screen my phone calls before answering, as that is the reason I have caller ID.

No I don't call numbers back. I also screen my calls. I won't pick up if it's my MIL or if I don't recognize the name/number.

I always check my caller id before I answer.

I never call back a number that I don't recognize.

And I almost never call back numbers that I do recognize. Sometimes if someone in my family calls and doesn't leave a message, I'll call them back just to see what they were calling for in case it's something urgent.

On my cell phone, I'll answer if I recognize the number. I don't call back a number I don't recognize. I don't have caller i.d. on my home phone and even then, I screen my calls. Most people know to call my cell.

I never call people back off of the caller ID, and it drives me batty when people do it to me!

If I wanted you to call me back, I'd leave a message asking you to. If I didn't leave a message, there's no need to call me back.

I always use caller ID to screen calls. That's what it's there for!

We don't have caller ID, but use the answering machine to screen calls most of the time. I hate talking on the phone, too.

The other day someone called my work and demanded to speak to a manager. When I got on the phone he asked "why did you call me?" He went on and on about how he was going to report out company because we had called him. He was very curt and very rude.

We are a manufacturer of precision optical components, and do not market to any local business or individuals. We do not telemarketing of any sort. I finally figured out he had gotten a hang-up on his caller ID, and he was furious. I tried to explain this to this guy but he was adamant about reporting us. I said we have 55 employees here, and any one of them could have called on a personal matter, or someone could have gotten a wrong number. Instead of agreeing and apologizing to me, he continued to berate me! Finally I told him I would ask around to see if I could figure out who had called him, and hung up.

What a jerk! But it did give us something to laugh about for the rest of the afternoon.

Of COURSE I read the caller ID before I answer the phone, isn't that what you have it for??!!!!
I never call back a number I don't know and agree if it's important they'll leave a message (they never leave a message, so it's not important!!)

I have called back a number that was a company that kept hanging up on me. I told them they needed to stop harassing me. They cursed me out and I told them i would be reporting them.
