So one of the possible canidates that will accompany me on my trip in November was just diagnosed with a gluten intolerance.... We don't really know what this means since his doctor didn't tell him anything about it (just that one night we had a lot of pizza and garlic bread and he couldnt sleep that night cuz he was in so much pain and was "sick" for 3 days of course he kept eating wheat products... since than he has stopped eating wheat products and hasn't been "sick"). Anyways... what can we expect if we go?

I would suggest you go over to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 in the "disABILITIES FAQs" for the section on dietary restrictions. There is a lot of information and links there. Just follow the link in my signature.

Also, AllEars.net has a very good section on disabilities and dietary restrictions and all that stuff. Also there is a VERY GOOD book that was co-authored by the founder of AllEars, Deb Wills, and the people from Passporter. "Passporter's Open Mouse Guide to WDW" Which covers just about everything you can think of in great detail!

Also please please please please tell your server at the restaurant about the gluten intolerance! Or better yet tell them at the podium when you check in and they'll take a note on the server's slip so they know. The restaurant will be able to advise on what to avoid and what will be okay and if you're unsure, always insist on speaking to the chef. They're more than happy to come out and discuss dietary issues with guests. :)

I also suggest that you head over to the DISabilities forum. My DGD has food allergies and they had so much advice for my DD. Also, make sure that you advise the Host at the podium when you check into you restaurant. They generally ask and then the Chef wqill come to speak to your friend.

You can also discuss this at CS restaurants, there may be options there as well.

My MIL has the same allergy. When they went to Spoodles in Feb., she got a special menu and they were extremely accomodating. However, in her non-Disney life, she does a lot of sandwich ordering without bread and meat ordering without gravy. Up until a few years ago, everyone looked at her crazy when she asked for no bread. But thanks to Atkins, this is now very common (celiacs disease is more common too). CS is probably the hardest thing, but your friend will soon learn how to order.

tell the server and the host. More importantly note it when making the ADR. It should be recorded in the syste and the restaurant will be informed that guests with certain allergies will be arriving. They can meet you to discuss items on a buffet or ensure they have the necessary ingredients to provide a well rounded meal.
