i almost always do things by pieces vs a package and find it saves me money overall
our trip 7/3 - 7/9 2010 for 5 cost abouttttt
$1800 for airfare and mod resort (airfare is a killer in my city, the room was cheap with a discount i got)
food and shopping $350ish (i had 450 on rewards cards and didn't use them all, kids meals are pretty cheap and we eat 99% at quick serve)
got tickets from UT

my planning for july 12 (6 people) is already wayyyyy about that
deluxe resort is $1700
airfare is around $2900
i'll use rewards for food again and get tix from UT (i do have a few non expire tix from the last trip)

We looked for days at various alternatives, since this was about $1,000 more than our last tip this past July for same resort and number of days without WP option. Best we found by doing off site hotel, keeping same days and options but having to pay for meals since can't take advantage of FD, was $3,950. For $200 more, staying on site is definately worth it - that cost would be eaten by parking fees and cost of frustration being offsite and driving in.

Grade total $3935 for a FABULOUS vacation by ourselves. It's the first vacation we've taken w/ just our family in 10 years!!!! Not that we don't love going w/ people but when your the "Disney people" and every follows you every where it's nice to only worry about your family for once!!!
