For those who live really close to WDW

and have annual passes - do you sometimes make the decision to go over to WDW on the spur of the moment, like, let's go over to MGM and ride Rock 'n' Roller after dinner, etc?

Sure did! When we held AP's upon first moving here, we often went over during the evening (or whenever) just to walk around or visit a favorite park. Another favorite was Downtown Disney in the evening to enjoy people watching and have a cooling Italian ice.

Now that we're Cast Members we still go over on day's off . Never tire of walking (and sitting) around the World. The view may remain the same but the people are always different and interesting. That's what we enjoy.

IMHO, it's the ONLY way to do it.

Get in, do a few fun things, get out before ya get too hot and cranky from the crowds.

I would!

When I was a CM, we would very often just head out for an evening show or ride. Especially if we heard that RnR was having a cast member or soft opening. The only trouble was remembering where you parked.... (Now, did I park in Dopey 39, or was the last time I was here?)

We do that quite often, it's a 2 hour drive for us, but there have been plenty of times when the weather has been really nice we'll decide to go to Epcot for dinner and the fireworks. It's pretty funny trying to decide if you want to eat in Mexico or Germany later that evening.

Yep, count us in as well. DH and I usually plan a surprise day to the park for the kids. It is especially nice when the weather is nice and you know the park isn't busy. Makes the spru of the moment trip that much more enjoyable.
