Several years ago, we stayed in Building 1, a deluxe, 2 queen room, and requested top floor. Like the previous poster said, I like the natural light of the high windows, though for some it's too bright. The freeway noise was audible, but it didn't bother us; it was more like a distant rumble. I would probably bring ear plugs or white noise anyway-- it's enough to bother some people.
The room they gave us was 1713, and I liked it because the view wasn't blocked by the Ponderosa pines that tower up past the top of the building. Great view of the monorail and the Matterhorn, and fireworks.
The beds were really comfortable. They store your luggage for you if you get there before your room is ready. The bathroom sink is outside the shower/toilet area, which is always nice for getting ready in the morning.
When you come out in the morning, there is a side door exit you can use that is right on Manchester, so easy access to the street. Although I would NEVER advocate jaywalking

you could
hypothetically jaywalk across Manchester (usually very light traffic) and cross Harbor at the light there, and walk down the Disney side of the street, going in at the taxi entrance and saving yourself a bit to go down to the crosswalk on the other side.
We loved staying there, but you can't get the incredible rates they used to have any more, and the walk seems long at the end of the night. So now we're more basic "at the crosswalk" kinda people.

Desert Inn for $99 a night on our next trip in September!
