To start we have been to 50's PT and really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food! But for some reason I really want to try Mama M's.
So which would you do, and why?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

we ate at mama mia's twice. the first time i got ill an hour after dinner, the following trip we tried it again and dh got ill an hour after we ate... could be coincidence, could be the restaurant. needless to say we're not going back to find out LOL! The food wasn't all that good either, imvho.

We LOVE 50's though!!!

I've eaten at Mama Melrose's and we weren't that impressed. On the other hand, we've been to 50's many times and have always enjoyed the food. It depends on what you're looking for though. For some people, the atmosphere is equally or more important than the food and service.

I've eaten at both, but not recently. I was not impressed with Mama Melrose's, bad service and uninspired food. But we have always enjoyed 50's Prime Time.

November, 2009, we ate at both places. We've been to Prime Time and it's one of our faves for years. Mama Melrose's was a first time for us. It was good (no one got sick like another poster:scared1:) but service was a bit spotty. Food was average Italian--nothing special--but adequate. I'd eat there again:goodvibes

We like both really. DH prefers MM and my kids prefer 50s. So we went to 50s on our December trip, and we'll be at MM in July.

I really think both are fine--not great--places. Atmosphere is more fun at 50s, but MM is more relaxing.

I agree. Both are good, not outstanding, but good. Different atmospheres, but both quite nice. 50's feels more unique, but sometimes after a day in the park, you may not want to deal with the whole "eat your veggies" schtick. I think I find more options to eat at MM, but love the chicken at 50's.

Have not been to 50's but I can say that MM is not really good. I have eaten there twice. Once the service was great and the food was okay. It was good enough to get us to go back and try it again. The second time the service was just okay and the food was horrible. I mean horrible. The menu choices were less than exciting. Five in my party and no one was happy.

We did Mama back in 2000 I think to get the fantasmic dinner package. (I might be mis-rememering the year.) It was OK. Standard Italian fare.

However, we go to 50's s every time we go. It is DW's favorite theme restaurant in all the parks. The experience is fun, and the food is outstanding.

Yes it's traditional comfort food. Fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast. But also very hard to screw up. :-)

We ate at MM a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The food was very good (especially the calamari) and we had a great server. There was nothing spectacular about the atmosphere, but it's nice (love the open kitchen)

I really like 50"s PT - DH could take it or leave it.

I think MM is worth trying.

Wow I am really surprised at the poor reviews :confused3 I :lovestruc Mamma Melrose. The wood fired flatbreads are so very yummy and even my picky DH was impressed with the chicken parm. Heck, it even smells good walking past the place! I would definitely recommend it....we are going back ourselves come September....but to each his own I guess.

I hope you enjoy whichever you decide upon :goodvibes

We just tried Mama Melrose's for the first time in May. Service was just okay and the atmosphere really isn't that special, however there were many items on the menu that appealed to me and everything we ordered was tasty. I love the atmosphere at 50's but there are only 1 or 2 things on the menu that we typically order and we just find that food "okay." The meal itself was much better at MM for us.

Another vote for 50's from me. Mama's was fair/acceptable but quite disappointing. It sure did smell great going in though. :goodvibes

We've eaten at 50s multiple times and really enjoy it. Last trip, we ate at Mama Melrose's - I was leery due to the not so good reviews it seems to get - a lot. But we really enjoyed our meal there - it was very good and the service was good too. I'd go back there. Just proves that you need to try things for yourself, because everyone has different opinions.

I'm the opposite of everybody else. I.am.not a huge fan of the wash your hands and eat your veggies shtick and the food tastes like ... Denny's to me.

I'd choose Mama Melrose but I do agree it is quite Olive Garden-y.

Can we go to the Brown Derby instead? :thumbsup2

Another 50s Prime Time Vote. I have always gotten into Mama Melrose without an ADR, so I think that is something to note.

We eat at Mama's EVERY time we go, even have a favorite server. Last Easter we took friends to 50's because they wanted to try it. Yuck, worst meal on property in years, plus the "act" is very spotty, depends upon who you get.

Mama Melrose's is not a comparison for 50's at all. I love Mama's.I'm always for trying something new too!
