For those who have tried the Magic Bands

Two rooms - I just have all eight of us under the MDE account. So if I am understanding correctly - it doesn't matter how many are under the MDE account - the credit cards will automatically go to the correct rooms/people when I do the online check-in for each family?

Correct. You will do on-line check-in twice, once for each room since each are separate reservation numbers. You will enter a credit card and assign purchasing PINs during each on-line check-in process.

Thanks for the info everyone. Unfortunately we just got a call this morning from my Dsil - she was laid off yesterday and won't be able to go after all. I feel so badly for them but yet I am glad it happened when it did so we didn't have issues with points since we had to cancel their room.

We are still going - heck we added 3 days to our trip since we now had 120 points free up.

Hello everyone... Hoping someone can provide some assistance/guidance/insight.

My husband is a Cast Member here in California, so we don't have to purchase park tickets. We are DVC and will be staying at Kidani 11/6 through 11/10. I have received the invitation to sign up for Magic Bands. Here's my dilemma. Can I sign up for FP+ if I don't have any park tickets to link or linked to MDE? If not, then these won't work for us. Unless, we can link them some how once we check in at the resort?

What do you all think? This is our first trip ever to WDW and we purchased DVC last November while on one of the last Disney Wonder cruises on the West Coast.

Unless you have tickets other than cast comp tickets, then no, you won't be using FP+. The MBs are for everything not just FP. That is just one component of the whole system.

Hopefully you will be able to link once you get there somehow. But on the bright side at least you don't have to buy tickets!

There is no linking cast tickets. My DH is a CM, I've tried every which way I can and it's a no go. We even had big issues with them allowing him to ride with us (we have resident APs) when we stayed on site. That was a bit much IMO. I can see them not allowing cast to use FP+ on a daily basis but when staying as a guest they should have something like a dummy ticket number to attach so they can ride with their families.

Well, it looks like we'll not be going commando, as that's not who we are (nor does our age let us) but we'll do what we can. We plan on only visiting 3 parks, but, who knows, maybe two parks on one of our days. The plans are to just go with the flow and enjoy the sights and sounds, etc. I plan on returning to WDW soon. Heck being DVC and not having to pay for park tickets, with only costs are flights and food. Makes for a less expensive trip (other than paying for the DVC).

I wish they would have something smaller than the magic bands.
When it was hot out, my MB caused my wrist to sweat like crazy.

My MB is making a weird tan line on my wrist.
DH is not wearing his on his wrist, but it doesn't fit nice and flat in a pocket.

I also wish I didn't have to enter a pin code for every transaction. They dispensed with requiring signatures for room charges under 50.00 quite a few years ago. Sometimes the pin code doesn't work the first time, so I have to enter it again (and again). The third time it didn't work, the CM just hit some kind of override and passed the (back up) room key through the system--why couldn't they do that in the first place?

Overall, I liked the way FP+ worked once we got to the rides. I didn't like the way the selections are made for you on MDE. It took quite a bit of tinkering to get the rides we wanted in the right order. Sometimes, rides would be assigned when I had other food and wine events (guess not everything is linked).

I don't like that you have to have a ticket linked before you can make your ride selections. Sometimes, I'm not sure which type of ticket I'm going to use. I linked a DVC AP voucher to my son's MB, but I was thinking about using a different ticket for him. From what I understand once the voucher is linked to the MB, the transaction is irreversible. DH already had an AP, but wasn't sure if he wanted to use MBs--so, we waited to link up his pass (and had to wait to make FP selections).

I don't have time to read all the other posts in this thread right now, but my Magic band was MUCH more comfortable when I just used the smaller inside part. It ripped right out of the grey outer section without a problem!

Totally agree! That's what I just did with mine today. Much more comfortable.

Well I ordered the MBs for hubby and I and I have already received notice that they have been shipped. I was not able to access FP+ as we don't have any tickets. Wonder if once I have a ticket could I add it with the phone app and then have FP+ selection at that time. What do you think?
