For those who have TONS of points and go numerous times a year...

What do you do about work vacation time? I am in the process of tryin to purchase a 300 point OKW contract from a resale, and added to what we already own at BCV, that will give us 470 points a year...if we only go every two years or so, using 300% of all of our points will give us 1,410 points!!!! My husband gets 4 weeks vacation a year...it may seem like alot, but boy...4 weeks is NOTHING when you work the remaining 48 weeks. What I am saying is, even if we have the points to go more than once, it may not be doable because of him having to work. I have been spoiled in that I haven't worked in 2 years, and before I stopped working, I could carry over any unused vacation time into the next year. DH has to use it or lose it by Dec. 31st.

How do you all get around having to work? LOL. I guess it can work that we just take many "small" trips as opposed to a big trip...the kids will be in school anyway...I just hate this whole "work" thing...Aaahhhh to be rich and not have to worry about working.......

I have 250 points and go twice a year, Friday or Saturday to the following Friday (May OKW & December BWV). So it's 5 or 6 days per trip, with the weekend to recover before going back to work (I always seem to "hit a wall" when I get back). Then I throw in a getaway weekend with friends (non-DVC, February or March) Thursday to Sunday or Monday, that's 2 or 3 days. I work for an insurance company and get 4 weeks vacation plus I buy another week. Plus 2 "floating holidays" and 3 "family care". We can't carry over either.

I am going to be moving to a new department and they mentioned that they have someone in the Orlando office that may need some training, boy did my head start to spin! Have AP..will travel!

Well my wife gets about six weeks off per year, and I get 26 weeks off per year (sort of).
We go twice a year for 12 days, but in addition we are considering popping down for some weekend trips. Once my wife gets over the fear of flying (she is almost there) we will be going (hopefully) about six times a year, four of them being long weekend getaways.

We vacation 2 times a year, once to WDW and once for a trade, HH, or VB. We have several weeks of vacation and still have plenty to visit children, etc. We have 600 points and sometimes that isn't enough.

DH owns his company which sounds great but he really can't be gone for extended periods. We are trying to do two trips a year. OKW in the fall and BWV in the spring. Each trip about ten days. Sometimes we go mid-week to the following Saturday. So he feels he's only out of the office for one whole week. We have 1100+ points so we do bring family with us. Our goal is to become WDW snowbirds and spend the winter in a nice 2BR at OKW!

DW is a teacher(off summer,x-mas,easter,etc) I work for GM and get 5 weeks vacation,10 days at x-mas, 2 week shut down in July,etc so we have plenty of time to use our 600 pts.
For now we go twice a year,but when we retire(4 years) we plan on spending 6 weeks at OKW to get away from the Ohio winters

Besides our trips in our countdown below, we are going to Vegas in 2 weeks and San Antonio at the end of June also,so vacation time really isn't much of a factor for us.

We go about twice a year for approx 16 days total (most years) We have our own business and getting away is hard. Clients get so upset and angry if we are not there. Gotta smile, but you want to just punch in their nose sometimes. If they are real obnoxious I ask how many vacation days they have and do they go to work on those days in case someone is looking for them.

We have 460 points, and generally go 2-3 times a year for at least a week each--sometimes supplementing with cash.

We each get 23 days a year PTO (paid time off) you can use it how you want. Sick days, personal days, vacation days. We can also roll over 10 days a year into the next year.

We try to take at leat one of the trips over a vacation period where we would have had an extra day off anyhow. It works out pretty well, even taking 10-16 days a year for vacation we still have 7-13 days a year for sick and personal time.

I have 700 pts, which we use for 3 trips per year, and a couple weekend get-aways. As a teacher, I can't go during any time except summers and holidays, so we can easily use up 700 pts. DH gets 4 weeks per year, so we always go for a week with the weekends on either side which makes 9 days each time we go. Of course, we have gotten spoiled with the larger accommodations, too, so we always have a 1-bedroom villa. You will be using up your 1400pts in no time at all, and borrowing ahead like the rest of us do

We have 515 points. I get a month off each year. We take three week long trips (8 or 9 days each) annually and then a bunch of long weekends. Two of the week long trips are to WDW. With a little careful scheduling we get 24-27 days on our APs.

Hi, Disney1fan2002. Keep in mind that if you go every two years, you will not have 300% of your points. Going every two years would give you 940 points, and I think you could find a way to use them!

I only have 350 points and i go twice a year. My boss thinks i should work instead of going away.I think he has a problem with me on the vacation thing.He has even changed the policy on how many days i get a year.He stopped it at 2 weeks when im close to having 3 weeks vacation.I take my vacations around holidays so i can extend them.In 2002 i stayed in disney over 30 days(points and pay).

We only have 300 points but we do go about 3x/yr. Time off is not a problem because I only work 26 weeks of the year. (7days on/7days off work schedule)...so in theory I could go every other week....Just need more points!.....
