For those who have stayed at WL

So how much time should we allot to get from our room to MK for opening time? We would like to be there for rope drop!

We just got back on Saturday and used the boat several times. Wait was never more than 5-8 minutes. THE BEST THING about the boat is the green flag boat(the MK -Wilderness Lodge-Ft. WIlderness route) allow you to roll your strollers right on with the kids in them. It was wonderful to not have to break down the strollers when they were napping. Roll on-Roll off. It probably took ten minutes longer than the bus, but it was worth it to not wake them up. Very peaceful and relaxing. The Contemporary boat requires that you take them out of the stroller(it is smaller and load differently). But if the kids are not sleeping. It is very nice to break down the stroller, go to the Contemporary and catch the monorail. You can roll the strollers onto the monorail. When the Park closes, the wait is much longer for a boat(about 20-25 minutes) and it is crowded. The buses were very fast, but we chose to take the boat b/c the kids were sleeping and we did not want to take them out of the strollers. Not relaxing for us, but nice for them. The only real transporatation problem we had was buses to downtown disney/blizard beach. No matter where or when I have stayed, the wait is always very long.

We have a double stroller (side by side) could we roll our stroller on too? I assume it's just for the little single one's but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask? If we wouldn't have to break our stroller down it would be great too. Any help with this would be great, Thanks!

Double strollers were on there. It is wide enough to fit a wheel chair on. The only thing with a double is it might be tough to get down the isles. The middle of the boat is empty and many people would stand there with there stroller. There is also some room in the front of the boat where it might fit. YOu shouldn't have a problem. Not breaking down the stroller is great.

We were at WL last July. The boat always seemed to be there waiting at the dock. That was very nice at 1am on an E-Night.
We tried all the options mentioned and never really thought any of them were too long of a travel time.
BTW we took the bus to MGM and that ride seemed like forever with the stop at FW. We never took the bus directly to EPCOT. We took the bus to the TTC and got on the monorail. We also took the monorail back and then the bus from TTC to WL which was probably quicker after Illuminations ( not to mention no standing in the bus queue) :cool1: :

Thanks everyone for sharing all your great and not so great experiences with me, now I can tell DH what I've learned to help us make a decision.

HI Zoo Keeper--- or should i say hello neighbor, we are also from the W-B/Scranton area of NE PA. Go Penguins!!!

We stayed at FW the first week in May and it shares at boat with WL at certain times. The only time the boat was full was after fireworks at MK. The longest wait we ever had was probably 20 minutes. I find it so relaxing after a long day to take the boat. I guess DH and I also never seem to be in a hurry either.

The boat transportation was one of the reasons we have decided to buy resale at VWL.

We stayed at the WL for 9 nts for our honeymoon and I was not impressed with the transportation at all. You always had to make 3 stops to get to any park, and even the boat went over to the campground before going to the MK which is completely out of the way. You actually pass the WL on your way back from the campground. We almost missed our dinner reservations for Cinderella Castle becuase we deicded to take the boat. We gave our selves about a 1/2 hour to get there. We stop at the campground, and people board, and then the boat just sat there. My husband and I were going nutz, we wondered what was going on. Well, apparently the boats were out of sync, and they had to sit and wait a few minutes. I was like, why not take us to our destination and THEN wait to get back in sync??? Why hold all these people up?? I was so mad. By the end of the honeymoon I was so ready to just rent a car, and decided that is what we will do next time. Its a shame b/c the WL is such a great property.

We don't "commando tour" any more, so we like riding the boats and other forms of transportation whenthey are available. They are fun. I can take a bus at home. And it's vacation, so I don't like to rush.
