For those who have gone in January

My DH and I are considering a short trip for his birthday in January. We'd be there January 21st - 25th. I was just wondering what I should be expecting in terms of weather, crowds, etc. I've only been in September and summer, so I'm used to hot, hot, hot.

Crowds will be light, weather will be unpredictable. You could have a beautiful week with cool mornings and highs in the 70s to around 80, or you could have mornings in the 30s with afternoons that struggle to get out of the 50s. There is no way of knowing about the weather in Janaury until a few days before you go.

LOL The 21st is our Anniversary. We went on our Honeymoon and again for our 10th Anniversary. It can get cold. Back in '95 it hardly got above 50. This year it was much nicer, mid 60s. People were even swimming at night. There were no crowds either time.

It's weird, but that sounds perfect. My DH hates to wear shorts, prefers jeans, and loves any opportunity to wear a light jacket (weird, I know). Thanks for the info.

We have gone 2 years in a row in Jan. The crowds are very light. The first year we went it was in the low 70's. It was perfect. This past trip we frooze. One day it was 48 and it was raw out. We are planning our trip for March this year and we are hoping for some warmer weather. I loved going in Jan. but the kids want to do the waterparks a lot next trip so we need higher temps.

We did Jan 13 to 19 this year and found it too cold for our liking. Even with sweatshirts under windbreakers it was raw!! The night the MK had EMH we had to go back to the room about half way through because we were freezing. Once the sun goes down, it can get downright uncomfortable.

That said, we've never been any other Jan and I'm told this past Jan was one of the coldest FL saw in a long while. But based on our experience, we won't return in Jan - too risky. After having gone in March, May and Sept with good weather you feel a bit jipped!
