I REALLY dont mean this to turn into a debate honestly,I'm sure there are going to be strong feelings on both sides of this issue please be respectful of each other :)

I was just watching a show and this woman giving birth had SO MANY people in her room with her INCLUDING her brother!!!

Sorry but I DRAW THE LINE at having my brothers in the room while in labour!!!

I love my brothers and were really close but there are some things I just dont want them to see you know???

To be honest it just kind of creeped me out thinking about having my own brothers in there. Thats just me though I guess.

I had dh in the room and the doctors and that was IT I didnt want cameras or anyone else in there with us.

So how about you?

I'm with you binny - DH, the doctor and nurse and that was it! No way would I want someone else in there.

During both my birthing experiences, I just had myself (LOL), DH and the doctors and nurses. I would've loved having my Mom or sisters in there as well, but since we all live so far apart, that just wasn't possible. I think I definitely would not have liked having more people than that......and I don't prefer video cameras, but regular cameras were fine :)

Nope, I'm pretty darn modest and didn't appreciate all the nurses and doctors either.

My bil's ex-wife had a baby at home and her inlaws were in there too.

No way. Not me.

Dh the second time, Docs and nurses

and the first time... MOm and docs and nurses.

In my opinion it's not a sideshow- it's a birth. My cousin's daughter had 10 people or more in the room when she gave birth... but she's weird anyway. To each his own I guess- if they aren't in the medical staffs way and you don't mind everyone getting a look at your "goodies" go for it.

I didn't want a whole bunch of people, but I ended up with a crew!

I had my DH, my best friend, my doula, 2 nurses, 2 midwives (one in training) & 2 NICU doctors. Sheesh! Honestly, I was far too busy pushing out that baby via natural childbirth to worry about who was watching!

My mom and DH were at the birth of my three kids. THe first time it was fairly normal. The second time there were over 22 people in the otperating room. My twins were 9.5 weeks early and they each had 7 specialists waiting around each incubator. SO right there were 14 people. Then I had my my DH and mom, the anasthsiaologist, nurses and Doctor. It was way to many people and it made me feel uncomfortable. MY DB...no way....or my inlaws

Nothing can compare to having students coming in asking to see my tear, because they had never heard of one that large  Really somepeople I guess can do that...me I sent them on their way :)

LOL- Robinb! You are so right about not caring at the end who sees you.... Someone knocked on the door while I was in transition and I screamed..."Come on in and take a look- everyone else has!" I remember feeling like there was so much traffic in and out of the room!

DH, doctor and nurses. That's all folks!

The first time I had about 15 people in the room. Various friends and relatives. It was fun!

The 2nd time was a hard delivery and I was in a lot of pain so I kicked everybody except the doc and DH out early.

I had my mom and my SO in there when I had my dd. My dad and my SO's family stayed in the waiting room (as I requested). They all came in afterwards.:) I was so upset with the nursing staff because they left the door open to my room while I was having her. My SO's brother had big reservations about having kids after hearing me scream in agony (I'm very quiet natured). When I had my ds, only my SO was in there. My mom took care of our dd. Everyone came in afterwards again. But the door remained closed that time.;)

Aside from medical personnel, only those present for the conception were invited to the birth.

I was eating chicken in the car when my daughter was born, I was for sure I had a few hours

My h, mom, and MIL were in there with me, as well as the doctors, nurses, med students.

I was so busy pushing out my boy that I didn't care by that time. We had a camera, but it was at my head, and you see the dad's reaction and some of my son. I still smile when I remember the look on his face and when he exclaimed, "It's a boy!"

My dd was born at 2:16am, so it was just mom and the h who were with me, as well as docs & nurses. :)

Heck, I didn't even want DD's father there but since he was there at conception he felt he had a right to be there for the birth. Men! :)

DH and medical staff. I had a C-section but would not have wanted anyone else or cameras in there anyway.

I knew a couple that had their 9yo daughter and 10yo son watch the birth of their new brother. I cannot imagine my boys watching that.

Lol, Aprincessmom, I was so tempted to ask my SO to go back home when I was in labor with our ds. He just sat there in a recliner sucking on a blow pop complaining about not feeling well. Plus I couldn't get him to get one of my meds out of the truck that I forgot to take. Because of my forgetting to take it on the way to the hospital and because of his refusal to go get it, my epidural was delayed for about 4 hours. Somehow, I don't think he'll ever forget that happened.;)

LOL! Jason, was your dd in a hurry to get here?:teeth:

Just DH and the medical staff for me. I had a C section. In fact, the only person we called when I went into the hospital was my dad. I didn't want a bunch of people bugging me, and frankly I was not feeling oh so pretty.

We called the rest of the family after DS was born, and they showed up within the hour.
