About how long does it take from the time one sends back the closing papers to be able to make a ressie? I already passed ROFR and received the e-mail with the closing packet to sign today. I'm getting it in the mail tomorrow and since we are travelling in mid August, I'm aware that availability at certain resorts becomes less likely by the day.

Once you have closed it usually takes about a week (sometimes a few days less, sometimes a few days longer) before you will be in the DVC system.

After you notified that your purchase has closed, I'd call DVC a week later and have them check to see if you are in the system. If you don't know the membership number, explain that you are a new buyer and they can look you up by your SS#. Once they find you in the system, you can start making reservations immediately.
