Well, July 19th is fast approaching and I want to be prepared for this sale. Does anyone have any helpful hints? Do I need to bring my own bags? I know that you are limited to what you can by, two dolls or something like that. Are the dolls in pretty bad shape? Do they come in the boxes, or are they "loose"? Are the outfits divided up a certain way, like by each doll? Do they have a lot of the books for sale? Any advice would be great, I just want to make best use of my time when I get in - 8:15am!! Thanks!

Yes, definitely bring your own bags! The dolls are in excellent condition. They come in a box but it doesn't have a top. The dolls are usually on the left side as you enter the warehouse, bitty babies are on the right. Once you get past the dolls, they usually sell Girl of the Year dolls in the middle. The historical doll items take up a big row on one side of the warehouse, stuff for the Bitty Babies & Twins take up another row on the other side of the warehouse. Books are towards the back & there are a lot!! The second room is usually the matching outfits that fit your child & the checkout. Note that each item (including the dolls) are marked with a tiny X so you can't return anything to American Girl. If you have a lot of stuff, there is a holding area outside so you can get your car & drive up w/o having to lug everything back to your vehicle. Let me know if you have any other questions, I've been several times!

And where is the sale again?????

This may sound stupid, but should I be prepared to be shoved and mowed down? I am bringing my DH and I need to prepare him for that or he will just walk out!! And he needs to carry the bags!! LOL! Are there signs where everything is or just more of a browse type of thing. Do they limit the amount of books you buy? I have twenty girls in my Girl Scout troop and I always buy them something for Christmas and I as hoping to get 20 copies of something appropriate. Thanks!! Sounds like some good deals!!

I've never been shoved or anything like that. It is REALLY crowded, & my DH would hate every second of it. It has a browse-type atmosphere but there are definitely ebayers who try to scoop everything up. There are police officers to keep everyone in line. You can purchase as many books as you like.

Oh boy, thanks for this info. I ddint know they had a warehouse sale.
Are there alot of dolls? If someone was to get there lets say a couple of hours after it starts, do you think there would be dolls still available??

I was thinging about Christmas gift for my two DD (3) (10). What is average price? I live in TX so won't be able to be there, anyone from here going that when they open?

You need to have pre-purchased a ticket for the sale to be allowed in. They use a lottery system for your entry time.

My husband wouldn't go to the sale with me for anything, so you're husband must be pretty special. :)

Wow, I looked at that website, $12 per person just to get in the door for the first 4 hours, that must be some kind of sale if people are willing to pay admission. My brother lives in Madison, but I bet I couldn't PAY him to go there.

We have a BD party on the 19th, so that is out. Is everything pretty much gone by the 20th. Would going on the 20th be a waste of time? Has anyone gone to this on the second day? I believe everything is put out at the beginning, but how much is left at the end of the first day?

Hi there,
I was planning a trip to see family so I signed up for all the email updates, but I am now unable to go.
Here is the limits/pricing info from the museum email:

AGOT/Just Like You Dolls $55 2 Dolls
Bitty Babies or Twin $30 1 Doll
Limited Edition Dolls $85 1 Marisol OR 1 Nicki, AND 1 Jess
Hopscotch Hill Dolls $30 3 Different Dolls

AGOT/Just Like You Outfit 1 Outfit
Special Edition Outfit 1 Outfit per Doll
Coconut OR Licorice Outfit 1 Outfit

Bitty Baby OR Twins Outfit 1 Outfit
Bitty Baby Special Outfit 5 Outfits

From what I understand in past years Sunday admission is free and there are still dolls left, not as many outfits.
Like I said, I am unable to make it this time. If anyone is planning on going and would be willing to pick a doll up for me, let me know. I will of course pay for the cost of the doll and shipping.
Good luck to those who can make it! Sounds like a experience!

If I have a 7:00am time can I have another ticket to come back at 9:00 am and get more. Would someone be allowed to do that?

Yes, but from what I understand they start lining up well before the posted time. Depending how long you take inside on your first run, you might be in the back of the line for the 9:00 group.

Thanks for all the great info! I didn't realize the outfits were going to be limited as well. Oh well, I will have to have my DH go through the line as well. Thanks again!

I went to the sale last year for the first time. I went on Sunday so I didn't have to pay for tickets. I got there early and there were already 200 people ahead of me. I thought I'd never have a chance to get what I wanted. But I did! They rope you off and let people in 100 at a time. It wasn't too crowded when I went in.

Everything is even cheaper on Sunday. I paid $30 I think for the Just Like You doll my DD wanted. They had tons of books left on Sunday. Not much for outfits like a PP said. (I was disappointed there). Looked like a lot of dolls left, but they went fast and some were all sold out when I got in. Don't know about the historical dolls though, I saw a couple people carrying some, so there were some left.

I think I'm going again this year. Mostly for books and maybe if there are any outfits left. Not sure about another doll. I only live 35 miles from the sale!

If you get a doll, check it out very carefully, the one I bought seems to have something weird with her hair, close to her scalp, it's fine, but I did notice it. And she seems a little more "floppy" then the doll we bought from the catalog. DD is happy with her though and I saved a lot buying her at this sale. I'll just pay more attention next time I buy a doll there.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

Thanks for the tip about looking close at the dolls. MY DD has Kaya, whom she received from a friend who found her at a garage sale!!! The hair is funky at the top as well, but my daughter doesn't care. I also paid full price for Kit and after a couple of months her one eye didn't open when you sit her up right, you have to flick it open. She doesn't seem to care either, but her friends always make such a big deal out of it, they drive me crazy!! So if something is a little off, she won't mind!

I wonder how the outfits are? Are they very damaged? I never know what seconds or returns really mean..........

Oh I wish I lived near there. DD loves her dolls but I hate the price for all of them. (I shouldnt be so negative, they hold up amazingly well and are very well made. So you get what you pay for but I tend to let her get the doll, some clothes, etc and its $300 later. LOL!)
