i was thinking about ordering either an EZPass or Fastlane account for my parents (we might drive down to WDW this year from MA, and they often drive from MA to NYC to visit me).

which one is better? EZPass or FASTLANE?

I believe that in MA it's called Fastlane. Then as you get into other states it's called EZpass.

Our Fastlane will work all the way to PA so you should be all set.

I don't think it works in the southern states including FL.

Ezpass goes as far south as Delware and Maryland. Up until a year or so you needed something like 6 transponders to cover all of FL toll roads. I think they can all use Sunpass now.

Well Lewis, last I know Maryland and Delware were not southern states, I believe they are north of the Mason Dixon line. :)

right, i know that the one in MA is called Fastlane, but i have heard some people talk about how the best advice they got from these boards was to sign up for an EZPass (NY/NJ area), even if they didn't live in the NY/NJ area.

so i was a bit confused as to which one might be better.

i know that Fastlane works on some EZPass tolls, and EZPass works on some Fastlane tolls, but it's not 100% reciprocal, so i was hoping someone familiar with both could help me out.

i looked on both Fastlane and EZPass websites, but didn't find enough info there to help determine which one would be better.

thanks again, everyone.

My buddy lives in Mass. He has Fastlane. I live in NJ. I can use my EZPass everywhere he can use his Fastlane and vice versa. (We do alot of road trips together.) In Florida EZPass and Fastlane are NOT compatible with Sunpass. (Different manufacturer of the tags.)

Hope this helps.
Mike :)

I work in transportation and all of our northeast region trucks have easy passes. to my knowledge they will all work in ma, ny, nj, de, md, not sure on pa. And fyi I have a main comuter pass and they should be online with the system by jan 2004. nh to my knowledge has no plans to go to that system. hope that helps

I am not sure about isolated idiosyncrasies but I was told that Fastlane passes work on all EZpass systems (not necessarily "all systems that accept EZpass").

Fastlane gives some additional discounts at certain places in Massachusetts (notably from Weston/128 to downtown Boston) that EZpass does not, however anybody in any state can subscribe to Fastlane.

EZPASS NY waives the tag charge if you sign up for credit card replenishment, I think Fastlane charges everyone (about $25).

I've never driven to Disney. Not sure if there are any toll roads between DE and FL.

I live in MA and have a EZPASS it works on all the Massachusetts Tolls and it works on the EZPASS System of course.
