I've seen the newscasters in the hurricane-affected areas interview people who stayed behind and haven't been able to contact family in other parts of the country, hoping their family would see and know they were okay. Since we have DISers who are still missing family members, I thought it would be nice if we could all post when we saw those interviews. Maybe someone on the DIS will be related or know the relatives of the people on TV, and that can bring a little peace of mind.

I didn't think of this until a few minutes ago. I did see some of those people this morning. But I'll pay more attention now when I see them.

I saw a man named Doug interviewed, he looked to be in his 20s. He was in Slidell and trying to make his way to his family, but he couldn't reach them. He had a wife and kids but was unable to get to them or even find out if they were okay. He was just walking with a backpack on trying to get somewhere?! Poor guy....he just looked so forlorn.

It was weird because just prior to that on a different cable news station (Fox maybe) I saw a woman near the same area, about the same age, looking for her husband. She had a few kids. She showed a picture and it looked a bit like this guy. I just wished I had heard her say a name.

People must be frantic...no means of communication....totally cut off from one another. It's so terrible.

That's funny that you replied to my post first. My name is Amy Beth, too. :goodvibes

Amy Beth :goodvibes I remembered reading that your mom was a big fan of Little Women on another thread. So was mine!

This is a great idea....let's bump it back up. You just never know what people might see and how it might relate! Thanks for starting this thread Amy Beth!!!

I just caught a quick bit from CNN and they are setting up something like this I believe. I'm sorry I didn't catch it all, but from what I heard they are going to post pictures and video from the reporters in the area so hopefully family members lookng for them can see they are ok.

try hurricanevictims@cnn.com or something close to that. I tried to find a link but it must not be up yet.

Hope this helps families learn about their loved ones.
