? for those w/kids that have asthma

DD8 has allergy induced asthma, but very rarely has a problem with it ~ she has been doing very well by taking her allergy medication and singulair. (she has never had an asthma attack ~ I have only needed to use the inhalor occasionaly over the winter when she has had an upper respiratory infection).
When I registered her for the kids club this morning there was a spot to list concerns etc and also said to fill out and have a physician sign the medical form. Is filling out the form necessary in this case? If for some reason she has a problem will they administer her medication or will they page me to come and give it to her? Do I need to leave her inhalor in the club with her? TIA

The counselors will not, under any circumstance, administer any medication. If she needs it, they will page you. If it is serious, they will get the ships doctor. My DD also has asthma, unfortunately a bit more severely. She also keeps an epipen with her at all times. Bug bites. And while I know that she is extremely unlikely to come into contact with an ant or a bee onboard the ship, it could happen. I had to fill out a medical release and leave the medication. Now, if your child is old enough, and you have filled out the release, and she has the med w/her, SHE can administer it herself. So, I would probably go ahead and fill our the medical form.

It has been our experience, once the kids get out in the open air on the ocean, they do not have a problem with their asthma. If she is a reponsible kid, sign the release and give her the meds to take herself if she needs them. My kids all said they loved being on the ship because they had no problems with their asthma at all. (My kids are 19 & 21 and the married 28 said she never has problems either)
