Our upgrade was mid May 2003.

I was upgraded at 4:30 pm on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend 2002. The resort was at capacity (never felt it, though). We booked standard and were to deluxe/pool view. A great room and great view. Perhaps these rooms don't get booked much. When you check-in simply ask politely for an upgrade. The worst they can say is no. Even if you get the worst rooms in the lodge (the ones by thebus stop), I can think of a lot worse places to be than looking at people getting on a bus to go to one of the WDW parks!

Our upgrade was in Dec 2003. Just days before Christmas. We went from a standard view to Savannah view.

We were upgraded to a savannah view on Zebra Trail in July '02. Our original reservation was with the AP discount standard view.

Both times week before Christmas (2001 and 2002). Both times booked standard (requested smoking) and both times upgraded to pool view. Funnily enough, first time got #2020 and next year got #2022 next door - felt like coming home!

May 2002 ~ upgraded from standard to savannah view without asking for it, just a wonderful surprise!

The Monday prior to Memorial Day last year from standard to pool at AKL. Loved the view so much that we decided not to take a chance this year and booked pool view for our May trip.

I had a postcard rate for a standard view and was upgraded to savanna view at check-in both times.

May 17, 2003 for 10 nights. Booked standard view with post card rate ($124/night). Upgraded to savannah view. No prompting, no asking. But it definitly can't hurt to ask if it is not offered.

Feb 8-11.

We were upgraded twice. Once when we checked in to savannah view (we had standard reserved) and then to Concierge level after wegot to the rooms and discovered one of them was a smoking room. We agreed to have 2 rooms on the same hall, but not next to or connecting each other, in exchange for concierge. The CMs were GREAT!

August 2002 DH and I were given a complementary upgrade from a standard room to a pool view room, because they did not have the King Bed we requested in a standard It was wonderful....

In September/October 2002 we were upgraded from a standard to savannah view without making a request! I was thrilled.
