For those that take water to the parks

1. Can the refrigerators at the on-site hotels (POR) be turned up high enough to partially freeze water bottles?

2. Do you put or wrap anything around the water bottle to keep it from sweating or dripping during the day? If so, what?

good question. We carry ours in the zip-up insulated bottle carrier (found in the camping section usually). It has a strap to put around your neck. But I'm not looking forward to the kids complaining about having to carry those.

Unfortunately, I cannot answer the first question as we stayed at Pop Century and didn't order a fridge. Here's what we did--we have a Rubbermaid CoolMax cooler that we have for hurricane season (we lost power for 5 days in 2004 and chucked $500 worth of food...but I digress)--it is guaranteed to keep food cold for up to FIVE days. AND IT DOES!!!! So the weekend before we left, I froze all of our water bottles (standard 16.9oz size) and DD Capri Suns. We packed the cooler full to the top, then crammed it full of ice we got at Sams. By Thursday, while all of the bottles were melting, they all still had ice in them.

To make sure that the water stays as cold as possible, each of us would have a small lunchbag-type cooler in our backpack. We would put in 2 bottles of water, our sunblock (ever put on cold lotion when you are way hot? Try it!) and granola bars (Heat + chocolate chips = messy granola bar).

We found that this was a good way to ensure that our bags were organized and the water was as chilly as possible!

Yes, you can bring water and snacks. We had no problem bringing these with us when we were there in September. I guess, technically it's not allowed..but it's not enforced.

At one of the bag check stations at the entrance to Epcot, the little robo-bag-cop, made a comment about me having so many "snacks". I just laughed and said, "you can never be to prepared"! (He didn't stop me from taking them in by the way)

I use beer bottle cozy's to keep the condensation off the water bottles, works great.

If you turn the temp up high on the fridge and put the water on the top shelf it freezes

My water froze by accident in the CBR fridges.( now I know you can adjust the temp and will do this again for my next trip)Which I was gald about, but Since I didn't plan on doing this I had to make do with what I had which was a clean sockI was worried about the condensation dripping in my son's diapher bag but it kept the water cold til around noon.

Thank you so much for your replies! That is exactly what I was looking for. We have the foamy kind of beer cozies that can get flat. That's what I thought we'd use to keep from the drips. then, when the bottle is empty, we can put them in our packs & re-use them in the afternoon the same way.

I'm so glad the fridges can be turned COLD so we can freeze the bottles.

beer cozies... why hadn't I thought of this before? That is an excellent idea. I have always wrapped my water bottles in paper towel and foil. Beer cozies seem much more environmentally friendly.

My brother always wraps his water bottles in washcloths. That way, as the condensation forms, it dampens the washcloth, so he has something to wipe his face with to help him cool off.

Yes, the fridge at por will freeze stuff. Use a sock around the bottle. To keep them cold, you could carry in a small cooler bag and put one of those blue ice things in. We found it easier to get ice water from a cs restaurant than to load up on water bottles.

In the morning we start the day with a water bottle and the strap that Disney sells. I don't care about it dripping because during the summer it actually feels good.

We toss the bottle when finished. At lunch we load up on more liquids and usually leave after.

I tried the water bottles in the little "bags" with a strap but the kids hated carrying them around all day.

Walmart sells water bottles in the camping section that has a freezer insert in it it also has a nice insulated wrap on it with a clip and a long strap. thats what we use keeps water really cold and you dont have to worry about the drips it hangs nicely on the stroller without lugging it onto each ride too. they cost around $4.00 keeps the water really cold which is good seeing I am "allergic" to water .. he hee
what we have done in the past is put the freezer thing in the hotels freezers. the next morning cram the bottle with ice ( it has a wide mouth to it ) and add a small amount of water 1/4 way that way the ice melts slowly and the freezer thing keeps it cold also. you can also use the ice thingy if you get a boo-boo ( which happened to smallest child )
