For my summer vacations I have no problem packing light since most of the time is spent in bathing suits, flip flops and shorts. This trip is in December and I hear weather can be all over the map. What do you suggest? I will have a laundry machine.

Well layers work out well. We go every Dec and the weather can be down right cold in the evenings and early morning, and beautiful in day. We always pack some sweatshirts and long pants, and even mittens. And believe it or not we have used them.

I agree with the previous poster about dressing in layers.

We go backpacking, so are used to packing light. For the flight/travel day we wear long pants, a short sleeved shirt, AND our layering clothes: a long sleeved shirt, a sweatshirt and a zip up jacket. For Disney we pack 4 outfits and then use the layering clothes as needed.

At Disney we do laundry once every 4 days (on our rest days). :laundy: I bring small gel detergent packs called Dropps. They take up very little room and work fine. I have seen them at Linens and Things and Target.

For actual packing we roll all of our clothes, placing each outfit in a zip lock back (removing any extra air). This way they take up as little space as possible :thumbsup2 . We set aside our clothes to pack way in advance. However, we don't pack our bags until the night before or the morning of travel, so we aren't "the wrinkled family" the first 4 days there.

(For backpacking we just pack one outfit for each day and don't care about wrinkles :rolleyes1 .)

Yeah, definitely layers. I get cold easy, so jeans, a long sleeve tee, fleece vest, sneakers are best. The nights and early mornings can be pretty chilly, so I always toss in a fleece cap. It's been a lifesaver more than once! :thumbsup2 No sandals or flip-flops for me at that time of year. I have some really great Birkenstock sneakers that ROCK! They cost an arm and a leg ($200), but they keep me going. Beer helps too. :drinking1
