Can you please give me an idea of what the weather might be like? Is it warm...shorts and t-shirt type warm or do we need some heavier clothes? What about at night...do you need a jacket at all?

The weather in December is very changeable. One week it can be in the 80s, the next week it can be in the 50s. Florida is not always hot. December 2003 it was cool when we sailed (long sleeve, maybe light jacket weather). Once we got farther south, St. Martin, St. Thomas it was nice and hot (shorts, t-shirt). Castaway Cay was a bit coolish. People were on the beach, but most folks only spent a bit of time in the water.

coinkc -which cruise are you thinking of? Just cruised this past Dec and had great weather once we were in the Carribean. It was a bit cool in Fla when we boarded and disembarked, on Castaway Cay attire was everything from swimsuits to sweat suits. Temps were about 69 that day. Hope you have great weather for your cruise!

we had mild weather while in FL. it was jeans type weather. CC was fairly overcast, but the other islands were nice. This was this past december. All the other decmebers we've gone its been really nice on CC and the other islands.

We sailed Dec. 18-28th.

Sailaway was cool - comfortable for us in t-shirts and jeans. Someone showed up at the emergency drill in a winter coat with fur however.

Key West, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Antiqua, and St. Thomas were all beautiful days - definately shorts weather.

Our seas days were bright and sunny and warm (not hot).

Our Castaway Cay day was very cool and overcast.

Our day back at port was also cool and we were again comfortable in t-shirts and jeans.

I've been in Orlando in early December and it was warm enough for shorts one year and cold enough for coats the next year so you just never know.

Thanks for all your help! We are hoping to be on the Dec. 17 cruise. For us, December is usually freezing so we are really looking forward to wearing shorts in the winter :)

We sailed 12-27-03 to 1-3-04. It was coolist in Orlando, but by the next day it was warm enough for even my always cold wife to stand in t shirt and shorts in front of the windscreen in front of the basketball courts. It was the Eastern so that was a sea day. St. Martin and St. Thomas were warm, Castaway Cay was cool but enjoyable, and it rained a bit. Water temperature was higher than the air temp there.

We cruised on Dec. 28th. We were at the parks Dec. 26 and 27th. For Florida it was cold. Compared to Iowa it was nice. Unfortunately I did not have our winter coats only spring jackets. We froze. A spring jacket does not cut it when the temp is around 50° and only goes down from there. On the 26th we could see our breath as we left the Magic Kingdom. If I ever go again that time of year our winter coats will be with us.

As far as the cruise, Key West was on the chilly side for Key West. We wore shorts and short sleeve shirts but locals had jeans on. Grand Caymen was even chilly from what I expected. What little time we were on 7 mile beach the ocean was cold. That surprised me. Cozumel was nice and warm. We did not swim so I have no idea about the ocean but I would guess it was warm.

Now when I have been on Eastern cruises this time of the year St. Thomas and around there were nice and warm as was the ocean.

Castaway had a great day but started cool with ran. The sun came out and it warmed up but the ocean was cold.

In all, a lot better than the midwest!!! I wish I was there right now. Kathy

We cruised in early Dec. 03. It was very, very cold waiting in line to enter the terminal to embark. It was still cold at Key West, and most people wore coats and jackets. Those who had worn shorts were extremely uncomfortable, and many didn't leave the ship. The pools were empty. It warmed up by the time we got further south. CC was still a little cool, but I found that enjoyable. The water was very cold, but plenty of people still swam.
