We just got back from a week at WDW. It was our first visit as a family, although I had been to WDW a couple times about 17 years ago. We are regular DLR visitors. Hands down, DLR wins for us. I won't go on and on, but every member of our family has agreed that we enjoy DLR and California much better. For me, it's kind of a no-brainer, I was raised in California (now live in Texas). You cannot beat the weather in So. Cal most of the time, whereas in FL. I was constantly stressed over rain, and having to carry ponchos everywhere we went. I am not one that enjoys sloshing around in wetness. I prefer areas that aren't built on top of a swamp.
Overall, most of the rides are just better at DLR.
We went on Pirates, and after it was over, my 8 year old asked, "That's it?!". Yeah, that was a let down after waiting 60 minutes. I did really like Expedition Everest at AK, but The Matterhorn makes up for that. Also, no "Alice in Wonderland" at WDW. Also, I kept looking for "It's a Small World", not realizing it was hidden inside a building at WDW. I like having everything in one central location, with easy park hopping, and having downtown Disney right there as well. Overwhelmed with everything Disney? No problem.....exit the DLR and you're in a regular town again.
