What food do you like to pack/pick up while driving to the World? How do you keep it cold? Or, do you pack things that don't need refrigerated?

We just do a cooler with sodas.

We stop at a drive through for one of our road meals and do a chain sit down for the other.

when we drive to wdw, we take a cooler with a spout on the side for draining melted ice, and we keep a 1/2 gallon of milk, apples, my natural pb, whole wheat bread, juice boxes and crushed ice for drinks on the trip down in it. we also take a small cardboard box, taped with duct tape, in which we bring non-perishable snacks, bananas, blueberry muffins, pop-tarts, etc. we eat breakfast in our room each morning, and it saves us lots of time.

Cooler with drinks, box with a few easy snacks. Traveling with our group means there's plenty of pee breaks also, since I have a problem with using a businesses bathroom and not buying something that means we usually get something we've been craving.

A laptop and a portable DVD player goes a long way towards keeping their attention meaning they don't get bored and want a snack. When they get legitimately hungry that tends to shift their attention.

We have a cooler/warmer combo unit that plugs into our 9V jack in the car. I like that a lot as it doubles as a footrest for my son who's in a car seat.

We do the same as others. We pack a cooler with drinks and usually some cold cuts. That way the kids can grab a sandwich if they are really hungry. We tend to take a lot of snacks that really just tide them over until we stop for breakfast in the am. We will make sure to stop and eat somewhere right after we leave for dinner.

We drive through the night, so we really don't need too many meals on the way.

The back seat of our truck is buried with both kids and all their travel gear, so there isnt much room for a cooler. I tried once, but it was a pain digging through blankets, toys and diaper bag to get stuff out of it, then trying to put it all back :scared:. I bring along trailmix, bagels, dry cereal, granola bars, water, etc and stop at our usual KFC for lunch.

I usually pack the usual sandwich fixings, string cheese, fresh fruit, chips (dh has to have his road trip Pringles...I won't buy them any other time. LOL), and an apple raisin snack mix. Found that recipe on recipezaar (it's YUM-MMMY), bottled water, and our sodas. Gotta have my pepsi, dh his Mt Dew. :)

Also, instead of using ice to keep the cooler cold, I freeze two 1 gallon jugs of drinking water and pack the food in around them. Bonus is, your not digging through icy water trying to find your food/drink of choice...and nothing gets soggy! During the trip, when it's melted, refill water bottles. I realize this may not work on the way home if you're staying it a hotel without a fridge/freezer. We usually don't do hotels and stick to rental homes (5 kids in a hotel w/dh? somebody would be seriously hurt..lol) so we can do it on the way home too.

We have a 12V cooler. It's great to keep things cold without the melted ice. We bring string cheese, frozen Gogurts, soda and water. We pack sandwiches for lunch.

Bottle water, grapes in a zip-lock bag, mints/chewing gum, and anything that can be eaten cleanly and crumb-free. To keep your drinks cold: you can freeze a bottle water and it will keep other drinks cold for at least a day. No need to deal with ice or blue-ice.
