What kitchen items would you find helpful above what is in the 1 bed villa. Trying to decide what to put in Owners Locker. Do plan on some easy meals because of DD allergies.

We keep the following kitchen items in our OL: spice wheel, corn oil, paring knife, a few plastic storage tubs w/ lids, plastic wrap, sandwich bags, aluminum foil, etc. I'd love to add a simple vegetable steamer, but finding broccoli w/out a car seems difficult. (I tried last week ... )

We drive every year to WDW so it is easy for us to bring some items from home.

I always bring my pancake griddle. I can whip out 6-8 pancakes/french toast in a couple of minutes vs cooking one at a time in the frying pan. A table service restaurant at WDW is very expensive, not to mention over priced.

I also bring my own coffee maker. The ones in the villas creep me out. I don't know if the inside has ever been cleaned ...

Finally, I bring my Magic Bullet. It's nice and small and makes perfect frozen drinks for free

I am debating on a small crock pot or a small electric griddle. I would love my George Foreman grill but it would take up to much space. Is there any utensils you miss?

I am not sure what type of allergies you are dealing with but in my family we have beef, gluten, eggs and peanuts so we pretty much eat the majority of the meals in the room. I do not bring along any extra items because I don't want to lug them around (if we got an owners locker it might be different) I just make do with the utensils available. I usually do some baking that I bring along such as muffins and cookies so that the family will have those available.

DD is allergic to gluten so we got OL because I am tired of lugging around a toaster. Given I already have OL I might as well make cooking a little easier.

I guess all the more reason that we need to get a locker. I don't bring a toaster and then feel guilty when everyone else has toast and our DD doesn't so I end up making toast in a skillet!

How about a sandwich maker? I have brought ours before to make DD grilled cheese (or ham & cheese).

No allergies here - just little ones who much prefer to eat in the comfort of home versus the restaurants!! In our OL we have a crock pot, potato masher, foil, zip baggies, spices and cooking spray!!!

The magic bullet or something similar is a must. I also have some dried herbs, sea salt and a pepper grinder in our OL. We cook almost all our meals in our villa due to food allergies and the cost of meals out for the 4 of us. Since all are above age 9, we would have to pay $160.00 per day to be on the DDP. I can buy a lot of groceries for that amount of money and they will last me most of the week. We usually only get a snack item at the park like Dole Whip or McDonalds french fries per day.

I have found that DVC's idea of a "spatula" is different than mine. I use a FLAT one to turn such things as pancakes or burgers. Their idea is like a slightly curved slotted spoon. It's next to impossible to turn pancakes in a skillet with it. So I have a REAL spatula in my box.
Also, people must be pretty hard on the can openers because whenever I get to them, they are pretty dull. I'm pretty attached to my easy, cut on the outside of the lid (so the lid doesn't fall into the can and my food) Pampered Chef can opener. So I splurged to put one of those in my box, too.

What we missed: a pair of scissors. So much comes in plastic bags with resealable ziplocks but you have to open it first! A collander: one is supposed to be in the 1BR (SSR) but ours was AWOL. Other than that, some basic spices: salt, pepper, garlic; kitchen wraps (plastic and aluminum foil); and Pam or some type of anti-stick spray.

Enjoy! I have to say after out last trip we became fans of WeGoShop and having a partially stocked kitchen.

I've found I really hate the cookware in the villa and the knives in the villa frankly...they do not work like my stuff at home.

So I'm checking a bag (I haven't checked a bag in over a year) and all that's going in there is my 12" Pampered Chef skillet that I can make anything in and one of my extra Forged Cutlery knives. And then those are going in the OL permanently so I don't have to pull my hair out using the sub-par stuff the villa is stocked with.

Yes, yes yes!!! I saw scissors posted on someone's OL list and thought "hey, that is a pretty good idea." I was so glad that I had taken that advice on our first trip. We used those scissors countless times!

We try to keep a running list of things people tell us they store in their Lockers. It's not quite up to date, but a quick scan will let you see some of the kitchen items people use (my favorite is the cast iron skillet!).

Kitchen (chicken) scissors, corkscrew, bottle stoppers, fridge magnet for schedules & shopping lists, two sharp paring knives (double up as steak knives), Marmite (Publix no longer stock it!), salt & pepper, aprons, can opener that works, flashlight, US 'pay as you go' mobile phone, Lightbulbs for kitchen which are bright enough to see by.

Would also like to have Nespresso machine.

I also have a Bath and Body Works plug in air freshener in the same scent I have at home. If it smells like home, it really feels like home. Also some tea light candles for those "romantic" evenings when the kids go to bed early. Usually this never happens because we fall asleep as soon as we hit the pillows, but it is nice to be prepared just in case!

We too have an Owner's Locker and really missed it at HHI this Christmas. We cooked almost every meal in at HHI. The one time we dined out, Dh and the boys agreed that they liked eating in better.

What we truly missed was a whisk, a pizza cutter, a rubber spatula and our griddle. I took salt n pepper, a small coffee griinder, and travel mugs and seasonings.

We spent $300 on groceries and ate crab, steak and shrimp all week. We are a family of 4 and will be all adults this year.

I dont leave home without my Wallflowers from BBW! Or my pump soaps at every sink!

And I agree with the apron! A co worker gave me a Williams Sonoma apron for Christmas. It was perfect for HHI! Next trip it goes in my locker.
