I am planning our first welcome home for Feb 2009 and wondering about the shuttle services to the theme parks,

1) I heard AKV has there own shuttle no extra stops at other resorts? How is the timing getting to the theme parks and back?

2) Did you have a rental car as well?

3) what shuttle service/ taxi did you use getting to and from the airport to resort and what was the cost?

Thanks!

We stayed there in early March and used Disney's Magical Express to get to and from the airport. It was very easy and convenient.

We were the only bus stop going between the theme parks and the hotel. Most days we waited 10 minutes or less for the bus. They did have one problem when we waited 35 minutes for a bus to Epcot but I think it was a fluke.

MOST DVC resorts have their own bus service to and from the parks with the exception of BWV and BCV who sometimes share with the other resorts in that area. We were at AKV 2 weeks ago and NEVER waited for a bus. It got to be a joke with us, because the bus was always either already there or came up within a minute or two.

Yes, we do always have a rental car, but we rarely use it at Disney for anything other than getting to and from the airport and making a grocery run. Occationally we use it to go to dinner at one of the other resorts, since resort to resort travel can be difficult and take some time.

We used the rental car for the airport run.

When Kidani Village opens, the buses will probably stop at both Jambo House and Kidani Village and not be separate buses.

I heard otherwise, Deb. I thought I remember actually reading it somewhere that there will be separate busing for Kidani.

Is it true the bus comes every 10 minutes or so for AK? Anybody know for sure?

I agree. Here is the info posted on the AKV FAQs page on DVC's public website:

Will buses serve both buildings?

Yes, Walt Disney World® Resort buses will service both locations. Disney's Magical Express Transportation buses will drop off and pick up at both locations based on the stay location.

Wow, this is great to know. I was hoping AKV didn't share a bus with AKL.

What about check in? Last I heard was that we still had to check in at AKL but that they were adding check in for AKV specifically. Any news on that?

TIA

Right now you still check in at AKL for AKV. I imagine that wouldn't change until Kidani opens and then anyone staying there would check in at Kidani.

Can Members check in at both locations?

Members and Guests will check in at the location at which they are staying. The building in which they are staying will be confirmed at time of reservation.
