we rented a car through avis to drive to the port and then to pick up and drive back to MCO. I've tried to get later flights home, but so far have only been able to get an 11am flight. How early are we going to have to get off the ship in order to get a shuttle to Raddison to pick up rental and then back to MCO...and of course all that waiting in line at the airport...?!?

If I had it my way, they'd have to drag me off the ship before leaving!:D

We too are renting from avis at the airport and returning car at the Radisson before our cruise. We also have an early morning flight home. On our last Disney cruise we had to wait for about 3 trips by the Avis van at the port because of so many going to get rental cars and then waited behind 1/2 dz. people to lease car for trip back to airport. This time instead of rerenting a car we are getting a shuttle service from yourride.com (we've heard nothing but good things about them from others on DIS boards). Our driver will be waiting as we debark (I told the gentleman who called to confirm our ressie that we would be debarking as close to 8 a.m. as Possible) and all we have to do is look for the pink sign with our name on it,sit back and relax. No waiting for a bus to fill up, no worrying about getting a ride to the Raddison, etc.
Maybe the trip back to Avis wont be as bad if you're very early, but for me this plan is better - I'm world's biggest worry wort and I'd spend most of the trip worrying about missing our flight. Have a great cruise whatever you decide to do.

It appears that our flight is just too early for my liking. I'd rather not fly out too late as my dd(10) has school the next day, but it looks like I just need to bite that bullet........I'll also checkinto yourride.com Thanks!

When we rented from Avis in January, we were off the ship and in our rental by 8:30. We were walking down Mainstreet by 9:40 am. We had the late dining on the cruise but skipped that morning's sitdown breakfast and grabbed something at the buffet instead. Disembarkation was very smooth, we used a porter for our bags and did not wait at all to get on a shuttle to the Radisson. I'm not sure how early folks were off the ship (I'm sure someone here knows).

Good luck with your decision.

Mary

We had no problem getting to Avis and driving to MCO. However, the lines to check in and go through security were quite long. It took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes to check in and clear security back in January. Make sure you allow enough time for this.

I think you could make the 11:00am flight, just be one of the first ones off of the ship.

Hi Could you tell me more about yourride.com. I could not find their site on the web. How much do they charge for a family of four? Thanks

www.yourride.com charges $70 from the ship back to airport for up to 6 people. I had posted the question about fastest way to get back to MCO for early flight from the port. Several people mentioned yourride and how pleased they'd been with the service. I think someone said yourride was a DIS sponsor, but don't know if they are or not. I was pleased with the fast response I got from them when I went to the website and the person I spoke to was very pleasant. I got an email confirmation with step-by-step instructions on where to look for our driver. If we had chosen to fly down the same day as our cruise I would have used them for round trip (includes stop at store if requested I think). Try posting a new topic asking for people who have used them to post their experience with this company.

sandee..

Thanx for this tip, however I could not get the link to work.
I believe it is http://www.yourride.net/
Sounds like a good alternative! They offer limos and vans -
same price for up to 10 people $65 one way - $130 round trip.
Site has $5 coupon.

Yep! that's it. Sorry....I was emailing from work and in too big a rush I guess. Have a great trip!

we just returned yesterday from the Magic and took the Disney bus from the airport to the boat. We spent the day at Disney yesterday, off the boat by 8 a.m had the avis rental by 8:20 and that included getting the shuttle! Rented a Blazer for 50 bucks (over the internet) and were at Disney by 10:30 (we stopped at our hotel on the way). Took no time to return the car today but the line to check luggage was about 1/2 hour or so.
