Yes, I believe this is better off on the Transportation Board. But I've been posting there and haven't been getting too many responses. We leave soon so I was thinking maybe my post would get more attention on another board.
Mods...if this isn't ok, feel free to remove me :)

HI! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out--

We leave on Sunday, so this is very last minute.
My sister is flying into Tampa, visiting family, renting a car and driving to meet us at Saratoga Springs Resort. I have a couple questions that will help her out a lot...she is very nervous about this process...

Is Alamo the only company that Disney works with? We are hoping to be able to drop the rental off at a Disney Resort (I believe the Dolphin?...can someone confirm?), and then taking Disney Transportaion to DTD and walking back to SSR.

She only needs the rental car for one day. In your experience, how would she work this out? Would she drive to SSR FIRST, drop off her luggage and then return the car at the Dolphin Resort? Or would she go to the Dolphin first to drop her car off? She said shes "heard" from a lot of people that its best to return your car first, and then they will ship your luggage over to your own resort. That seems too complicated for me.

Im just looking for any information that I can pass onto my sister, so that she feels more prepared!!

Thank you!!!

Enterprise had a rental place on site....it is near the Nascar racing track...just pass the Polynesian. I've rented from them on a number of occasions. Before there was such a thing as Disney Magic Express at the airport, we used to pick up an Enterprise rental car at the airport, drive to our resort of choice (Polynesian), unpack, do a little shopping off-site, and then drive to the Enterprise site at Disney World. they then drive you back to your resort. If you need a car while staying at the park or for when you leave, they will send someone to pick you up at your resort and take you back to their site to get your rental. When finished, you can, of course, leave the rental at the airport.
I hope this can help with your plans.
Have a magical vacation.

 Oops!
Now I'm not sure. It could very well be National.
OK...here's what I know for sure...the Company has green logo and it DEFINITELY is located just past the Polynesian and the Nascar race track.
:car:
Much pixie dust to you

Since you are staying at SSR, I'd think it'd be ALOT easier to rent from one of the companies that has a desk at one of the DTD hotels. I think Avis is at the Hilton. I also think that Dollar, National and Budget are also at these hotels.

Maybe someone else on the boards knows the locations of each car rental company - Jeff??

National has a rental car counter at the Disney Dolphin hotel.
Alamo is at the Disney car care center.

If you are staying at SSR there is an Avis location at the Hilton hotel across the street from DTD. It is a very short walk back to SSR. If you are at SSR looking at DTD the Hilton is located across the street and to the left of DTD up around the bend in the road. The Hilton also has a Starbucks and a ice cream shop inside next to the rental counter.
We have rented a car several times from this location.
Keep in mind most of the rental car locations close early some at 4:30 some at 6 p.m. so check on their hours of operation.

I would drop my luggage off at the SSR first.
