would you feel safe leaving your luggage in a soft roof rack bag while you were in the parks for the day?? Depending on how the drive goes :scared: , we might want to hit the parks (AK) before we check in. Same thing on the other end. We will be ending the trip with a Whispering Canyons dinner  so would likely park at the WL in the am, do MK for the day, eat and leave. There would just be clothes in the bags. Anything of value would be with us (like cameras, etc) What do you think?

When we have arrived at WDW in the AM before check in time, we have let them store our luggage at the hotel, then checked in at the desk, and they would always give us an approximate time that our room would be ready. Then you wouldn't have to worry about your things.

I'd feel a bit safer doing this at a WDW parking area than at "other" theme-parks.

BUT...
these things are ALWAYS "at your own risk".
WDW will "not be responsible for lost or stolen articles".

>>>
I'd attach a note to the outside bag that says "DIRTY LAUNDRY & TRASH"
That ought to cause a thief to think twice before dragging it away.

;)

Just curiuos, if you park at one of the parks can you get back and forth to the other parks using park transportation if you want park hop, or do we have to drive to the other park? Which is easiest?

No.
It is never good idea to leave anything of value open and accessible anywhere in public -- even at Disney.

I wouldn't leave the luggage rack on your car while you are away for a long time. Maybe store your luggage at the hotel or leave luggage in the car. On our departure day, we headed to DD before going to the airport. We had bungee-corded some big suitcases to the top of the van at the rental home, but once we arrived at DD we unloaded the suitcases and put them in the van while we shopped. I did see some other vans in the parking lot with luggage on top in the hard cases. I suspect maybe they had them locked? We didn't feel safe with our stuff on the top.

loveysbydesign----When we park hop, we drive between parks to save time. At the end of the night when everyone is tired, it's easier to walk out to your car in the parking lot rather than getting in line for Disney transportation.

One alternative is to plan out what park you'll end up at and park there then take Disney transportation to the park you want to start out at. Plan plenty of time in the morning to get to the park early.

Never leave anything that is visible and a soft luggage rack in soooo inviting to a thief. We've had a few claims from clients about luggage being stolen from inside minivans at WDW over the years, which is why I only rent something with a large trunk.

If you don't check in first and receive your parking pass you will have to pay to park at the parks. If you check in resort guest parking is free instead of $9.
