Okay, so I want to try Hotwire as I need a last minute hotel inexpensively.....My concern is that we are flying in which raises transportation questions. Which Hotwire hotels either offer a DL shuttle OR are on the ART shuttle? If any one you that have stayed in a Hotwire hotel could tell me how you got to DL, I would be MOST appreciative!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks,
Kathy

The Disneyland Express services two airports, LAX and SNA (Orange County airport), and offers transportation to Disneyland Resort area hotels, and pickup service from your Disneyland resort area hotel back to LAX or SNA.

ART - Anaheim Resort Transit, services the Disneyland Resort area hotels, and offers pickup/drop off service to Disneyland, Gardenwalk, and other area destinations. It does not provide service to any local airports though.

Hope that helps. :thumbsup2

Hi ~
I got the Crowne Plaza http://www.anaheim.crowneplaza.com/ for $40 per night (I'll call it $52 ~ $12 daily resort fee) earlier this month through Pricelinle ~ it was lovely! They share a shuttle with the Hyatt & one other place, this worked well for us. You could also take a cab for around $7 if you wanted to be there super early (MM) or during high crowd times. You want to bid for 3.5* places on Priceline, if they come back and say *change something and try again* add the area that does not have a 3.5* place and raise your bid a couple bucks. I didn't have to do this earlier this month, they accepted my 1st bid, I did this exactly 1 week before our trip started. Check out betterbidding.com for more info.

I guess I should have been a little more specific when I said transportation.... what I'm really looking for is what shuttles are available when you get a Hotwire hotel. I know about ART....I just wondered if the 3.5 stars offer their own hotel shuttles.....(so thanks Shannon ;) that helps me to know that the Crowne Plaza shares one with the Hyatt? Is it convenient? How long does it take to get to DL from the hotel? And, does it leave early enough to get you to DL before the gates open?) MM doesn't apply to us because we have AP's :sad1: bummer!

My greatest fear about going with Hotwire is that I will get a hotel in the boonies without convenient transportation to DL (meaning, too much extra walking!) We figure we do enough walking all day long so we don't want to start our day out walking and ending it walking home. I'm not very comfortable with the bidding aspect of Priceline or I'd try that. Oh well. I'm not sure what we'll do.

Thanks for any and all help!

Kathy

Kathy, I *highly* recommend you spend some serious time on betterbidding.com. Find the Hotwire/Hotel/California/near Disneyland area and really research what hotels might come up. Look at the 3.5 stars in the area, using those hotels' own websites, and get familiar with their descriptions of amenities...when I used betterbidding to research and then used hotwire, I was absolutely certain that the offered hotel was going to be either Hyatt or the Hilton. I was fine with either of those, and it turned out to be the Hilton. By using that site you can really narrow down what hotel you're being offered before you actually agree to it.

In the Disneyland area there are only a couple hotels that have their OWN transportation. Last year the general manager of one of the hotels explained it that the couple with their own shuttle were grandfathered in b/c they already had shuttles when ART came in.

This site isn't the most updated, but it has links to most of the hotels around the area. You can study the pages of the ones hotwire calls 3.5 (they have partial lists and you can get that info from betterbidding...note that priceline and hotwire use DIFFERENT star ratings from each other, which is weird) and see who has their own shuttles, etc.

Good luck! And don't be surprised if it takes a few days of reading on hotwire to really "get" what you're looking at...it took me WEEKS to really understand the whole thing (sometimes it takes me a bit longer, LOL).

I have used hotwire quite a few times, and it works good if you are going to be driving and will have your own transportation. Not so good if not. You could get lucky and be close to the park (which I have) but you could also be pretty far away - well out of the ART area... The problem is that the areas hotwire considers "Disneyland North" and "Disneyland South" are pretty generous. Frequently when I select DN I end up in Placentia, which is maybe a 15 minute drive to the park. You'd probably have to take a taxi to get there. I *have* gotten some amazing deals ($13/night!) but without a car I'd just pay more to stay somewhere where I know what I'm getting.

Good luck.
