For those of you who call Mickey's Fun Wheel something else ...

Um, NO THANK YOU! I think you just reaffirmed all our fears about this ride!

One day passes? If I were up there with my small kids for 2hrs, no water, heat, no a/c, etc... yeah, I would be getting more than just one-day passes. The cold wet towels were a sign that Disney knew that some would be beginning to suffer heat stroke. Glad no one was serious injured or ill.

This confirms it. I will never ride this ride. ever. I have a big fear of ferris wheels anyway. I'd rather do Screamin than this thing anyday.

I always hope the ride will stop when I ride this! I would love to be stuck at the top, lightly swinging, with the breeze and a great view. :thumbsup2

IMNSHO, the "Wheel of Death" thing is a gross exaggeration.

The cars that move on the tracks aren't really all that thrilling, although DS did point out dried pools of "protein spill" on the ride superstructure.

Don't they ever hose that thing off?

Its the only attraction in any of the Disney parks with barf bags... Its the funwheel of DEATH/DOOM!!!!

The kids and I love the swinging cars... the wife... not so much.

I literally had a panic attack thinking about this. And I thought stuck with an 18 month old on IASW was horrid.

90+ degrees sitting in a steel box in the sun for over an hour with no water. Imagine the panic that some people would feel up there with little kids in that heat. After the people got off the ride they all said that they were not given any information while they were hanging up there. I'm sure Disneyland has a bullhorn somewhere...After this thing breaks down, 5 minutes later they should start to physically push the wheel to get the people off they way they did yesterday. Problem is they waiting to long to start pushing. Disney owes them a bit more than a one day pass and a bottle of water.

Eh no thanks. This is a ride that I would have considered doing solo but I think if I got stuck in the air I'd need a doctor afterwards.

I was on TSMM and when I came out they had CM's in front of TSMM blocking the path so that people couldn't walk towards the wheel, California Screamin was closed, Silly Swings was closed, they cancelled the parade, and CM's were blocking the path from the swings side as well.

I thought Disney overreacted by closing down the entire area, I understand not wanting people standing around watching them work on the ride but I didn't see the need to close the rides or cancel the parade, neither would have allowed people near the wheel area. Better safe than sorry but I think it just attracted more attention to what was going on, after getting off TSMM I went over to watch the parade near the WoC area and no one was really paying attention to the wheel, after they cancelled the parade it only took a few minutes for word to get around people were "trapped" which just resulted in all eyes (and cameras) turning to the wheel.

I was a bit surprised they spent so much time trying to fix it before they resorted to manually turning it, it was about 45 minutes from the time I got off TSMM until I saw the wheel start turning again but in 100 degree heat that probably felt like an eternity for those stuck on it. I was talking with another group after the parade was cancelled and we were joking around that we all hope to get stuck and evacuated off rides (so we can see behind the scenes) but none of us wanted to be stuck on the wheel, sitting in a steel cage in the heat sounds miserable.

Actually, it's not.. Mission Space in Epcot has barf bags. :)
