For those of you taking the bypass...

If any of you are heading down to the Fort and take the Florida Turnpike off of I-75 do you know if the construction there is still ongoing? I know they started a massive renovation there in December and were planning on being done by late 2015.

I typically would stop off here to refuel and rest if I was ahead of schedule. Just wondering.

Florida Turnpike off of I-75

If you're talking about the first Service Plaza/Rest Area on the turnpike, it was still under construction when we were down in July. It looked like it still had a ways to go so I doubt it's done yet.

At one time they were still selling fuel during the renovation.

Tiggerdad, you can see where that extra fuel tank comes in handy.

I'm figuring about 800 miles between refills so that should get me all the way to the Fort.

That sounds good, I love my extra fuel tank, I can make it from home to FW and back home on one fill up, but I'm running on fumes. About 1,100 miles. The Gas Buddy app is a must too!

Yes it is still under construction. I did not get a good look as it was raining then. It did say you could still fuel there. Bert said it had diesel cheaper than the pilot at exit 340, where we usually stop for fuel.

I use that same Pilot you were referring to until I noticed that fuel was cheaper once you got on the bypass. I'm going to play it by ear, stop North of Wildwood if I'm ahead of schedule. My full plans were to refuel on the bypass on my way home. If I can still get in for fuel then I'll stick to that plan.

They rest area just north of Wildwood has 3 separate parking areas so the one in the back is for cars and trucks with trailers so there is usually a space open unless the big rigs start parking in the wrong place.

We just drove by and it's under construction but yes the pumps looked to be open. We filled up in Tifton GA and with our extra tank we have plenty to make it. Disel was 2.18 at the Murphys there.

Thanks guys, appreciate ya'll taking a look as you went by. Yeah LHARPSTER, diesel is currently $2.02 here in Meridian so I will definitely fill up before leaving out as it is probably the cheapest I am gonna find.
