If you or your loved ones have been deployed to Iraq, how long as the deployments lasted? My BIL is going on June 30 and they haven't given him any sort of idea on how long. My guess is a year. Anyone else have any idea? He is a supplies person. I guess he watches some database or something and orders supplies when needed.

TIA!

My dh is in the ARNG and is currently in Iraq. His orders are for 18 months. He will be stationed in Iraq for roughly a year

My DH is in the Air Force, but we live on an an Army post. The typical deployments have lasted from 6mos (we got lucky with the birth of our second DD in Nov.) to well over a year. However, situation permitting they usually let the soilder come home toward the half way mark for R&R. Sometimes this is harder for the kids because they think their daddy is home to stay, but he leaves again. My DH leaves sometime from mid-June to end of June for Iraq for a minimum of 6 mos. so I can relate.

My best friend is in Guards too. He is active for 18 months, deployed in Iraq for 1 year.

Husband is Air Force and his is one year...hopefully that will stand and not be extended!!;)

My ds is in Iraq now, and will be there at least a year. He is not going to come home in the middle and just take more time at the end. He felt it would be too hard to go back. He will have another year in Germany when he goes back.

Has the R&R situation gotten better then? Titus couldn't get it back while he was gone and most of the guys in his unit couldn't either. He was there a year.

He was a part of the 101st airborne and you had to have at least a six month deployment in the year prior to your deployment to Iraq in order to be considered for R & R because there were so few slots available for the number of men there at the time.

They were trying to give it to all the guys that had been to afghanistan and were only home for three months or so before heading out to Iraq. It would have made a world of difference in Titus' situation if he could have gotten it I think.

I know that my neighbors husband got R&R, but then he had only been home four months total out of 2 yrs. FT. Drum, according to her, is trying to do the R&R as the military considers it the most deployed base in America (just my luck we ended up here). Personally, my husband got lucky enough to come home since I was having a C-section with our daughter and had complications with the first one. There are only 'bout 90 Air Force soilders on the Army base and I am more familiar with how the Unit does their deployments verses the Army. They try to stick to 6 mo deployments as DH job is very stressful and dangerous.

My stepbrother has been over 13 months. He was put on a plane 3 times to come home and then told another 12 months before he comes home.

I know this is not something anyone wants to her.

Prayers for our troops and families.

My doctor is leaving next tuesday for Iraq, his deployment right now is for only 3 months but it could be extended. He's in the Air Force and he will be an flight doctor. My friend's brother has been in Iraq for over six months , and my other friend's son is there now and his deployment was for six months.
