For those of you calling for codes

Are you just calling blindly and asking if there is a code attached to your name? How do you ask? How do the CMs respond to that?

Just curious.

Thanks,
Michele

That's exactly what I did, and I couldn't believe it when it worked! The first CM was very nice, and spent a lot of time looking at the codes to get the best deal. She quoted me $99 a night at CBR for December 12/10-12/17. I made a temporary reservation. I called back a second time to change the dates and add dining. According to the 2nd CM, there is a lead code which has other codes associated with it, depending on whether you want room only or a package (at least that is how he explained it to me). He said he wasn't able to tell what % discount we got, but he felt it was a good deal. He said that he had not seen many 40% codes.

I am confused about my actual discount, because I think it's 40% but that's based on $165 per night, and I thought the Value rack rate was $149 for a standard room. Which would be a rate of $89.00. Either way, it was enough to convince me to stay on site.

After reading the other posts I am convinced that there was a code by my name because I had ordered the DVD a couple of weeks ago. I got the 20% email a lot of people got yesterday. I haven't been to WDW since I was a teenager. I think once they know someone is interested enough to order the DVD, they will seal the deal with a discount.

Good luck calling, and as per the advice of other posters, keep calling until you get a nice CM! :wizard:

I called a couple days ago and didn't have a code. If I call again and do have a code available at some point, do I have to use it right away on the phone with Disney? Can I use the code through a travel agent? Thank you!

ok..vent,rant,rave....:headache: I have called and called, and no codes!!! The Cms I have gotten have been flat out mean, and the last time the woman yelled at me that they can't do that anymore and to stop calling. So I called back and cancelled my trip and rebooked thru AAA. I am really tired of getting mean, unhelpful, nasty Cm's that don't want to do their job...Sorry about the vent!

I called about a week and a half ago to check on a September trip. I asked the CM (who was not very friendly OR efficient) if I had any codes. He took about 10 seconds to look and said yes, but that none of them would be available for that far away. I took him at his word, but when I call back to re-do my reservation (because after 20 minutes of trying to add the 2nd person to my reservation, she wasn't on my confirmation email) I'm going to ask about it again.

I'm sure that this has been asked somewhere else, but if I have a code for September and I use it on my booking, can I still add free dining if that comes out later? I'm doubting it, but wouldn't that be great?

No to using a room discount and free dining together.
Disney does not stack codes.
You have pick one or the other.

So play around now with the numbers to see which one will give you the best savings.

Since I have a 9DS who will be 10 by August and considered an adult, free dining would give us a better savings than a percent off the room at WL (may be different if we went to a more expensive deluxe). However, I don't see free dining being offered during my time frame, so we will be very happy to have 20% and not have to join AAA.

I agree ... yesterday the CM was so rude and unprofessional that I decided I've simply had it with Disney and won't be going back anytime soon ... I'm very nice when I call too, so I don't know why they have to be so mean ... and I've spent $$$$$$$ over the years in WDW too ... so it just doesn't seem fair that some get the codes and others don't ... don't get me wrong, I'm not begrudging the ones that do get the codes ... I'm very happy for you ... I just wish I was one of you ... so we're going somewhere else this year for vacation where hopefully they will appreciate our loyalty ...

Geez, I guess I was lucky when I called yesterday. I didn't have a code next to ym name, but the CM was super nice and looked for a long time. She then went on to have a long conversation with me about what resort we should try next and helped me get over to Grand Gatherings to confirm somehting for our upcoming trip. She even offered to talk to my son when he started saying, "i want to talk to Disney World!!" (that's what I told them to get them to be quiet :lmao: )

Unfortunately, I've only had brusque/rude CMs when I've called. After the last time, when their tone of voice made me feel embarrassed that I'd ask about the codes---mind you, this would be to still spend $$$$ at WDW--I haven't felt like calling back and I'm seriously starting to think of alternatives. Either off-site or someplace else altogether.

oh, and I should day for the absolute final straw with Disney CRO...the cm had the nerve to tell me that people like me don't need a code," you've already booked ,the codes are an incentive to bring in people that haven't booked a trip yet", meanwhile there are people that have gotten more then one code...and in 17 yrs i have gotten not a single one.ahhh, feel better now:goodvibes

Yes, that is exactly how I handled it 2 weeks ago. I asked the CM if they "could please tell me it there was a code attached to my name because I'm thinking about booking another trip". That was it- and yes there was!

Can I ask what phone number you use when you call about the codes? Do you ask for a particular "department" as it were? I know I sound stupid but I've never called for a code before. I threw a post card in the mail a few days ago to order the '08 DVD. I remember last year I got a post card in the mail with a 20% off code but it came late - as in the summer - but I want to book pretty soon. Thanks for your help!

If you are lucky enough to get a code, do you know if you have to use it directly through Disney? Can a travel agent use your code for you to get the discount? Thank you!

I had a package already booked when I received the code.

I called my AAA travel agent and he handled it. I think he had to cancel and re-book, but... whatever, he got it for me.

I have had nothing but unhelpful CMs as well. One said that if I had a code, I would have to tell him the code to bring it up, otherwise he couldnt see it...the next said that if I had a code, I would have gotten a postcard. So I decided to stop calling and if we received a code in the mail, it was meant to be. Well for the 2nd straight year, no code, so we have decided to skip Disney again this year.

I almost always call at night. I've never hit a CM who wasn't helpful.

I read somewhere that the Tampa CMs tend to be really helpful, and that you're more likely to get them in the evening. Fortunately, that coincides with my schedule.

I called & said "a friend of mine got a email with a 40% off discount code. I am thinking about booking a trip & was wondering if this discount would be available to me?" At that point they usually say, no, that those discounts are sent to specific people & can't be used by someone else. So then I say "well, I've changed my email address a couple of times so it's possible I was sent one & didn't receive it, could you check for me?" They always have been very nice & check for me. The first time I called, they said I didn't have a code. A week later I called & said the exact same thing & when she checked, I did have a 40% off code! :thumbsup2 Also, I have never received a post card or email letting me know I had this code. If I had not been persistent in calling I would never have even known I had this code! so keep trying!

I, like so many of you, have found Disney call center CMs to be inconsistent at best. I have gotten great cast members that will go out of their way to make sure my experience is top notch, and I have gotten others who were just plain nasty!

I'm not to the point where I am cancelling my trips yet, but I definately think twice before calling the 1-800 number. I sure would like to know if I have a code though.

I have called several times too, and had rude CM's, then the last time I called I got a wonderful female (others where always men) and she looked and looked and low and behold there was a 40% to my name. She said it was sent via email. I KNOW I did not get a email. Trust me I check all the time and anything Disney related always catches the eye. Anyway, I haven't booked yet due to it being just 100 less than our AAA price.

The other day I did get a email with a different pin this time and its for 20% off. I need to call on that one and see if its a package or room rate only. This might be better deal if a package.

So is there a difference between a code and a pin? my code was 40% and pin is 20%?

When you get a rude CM, stay on the line and do the survey. You can even tell them that your staying on the line, that should straighten them out of the next call, HOPEFULLY!!!:hippie:

I got one rude, one really nice. He tried my maiden name too!! He said that sometimes their under different names. So try that!!! BTW, it didn't work for me!! They also say to order the DVD!!! (couldn't hurt):wizard:
