I made a huge number of changes to the boards last nite in order to try and help those with who are having problems accessing the boards. You will notice that a number of features are temporarily unavailable. If those that were having problems could let me know ASAP if things are better it would speed up the process of getting things back to normal!
Thanks
Alex

I'm sorry to say that it didn't help. :(

I waited 8 minutes for the page to load (through AOL), the little blue line wasn't even halfway, and then I had to RESTART my computer and get here through IE again.

Good luck, Alex!

It's improved only a little ...maybe knocked off 15 seconds of my 60-90 second load time. But, that's still progress!

It's slowed down quite a bit for me. I'm not on AOL, I'm on a T1 line. The pages are still slow loading.

It didn't help me. :) This time it loaded to 67%, then froze not only the DIS, but AOL.

I don't have any problems using Explorer though. :) :bounce:

it made it way slower for me too. I am running windows 2000 over a LAN using IE. It is also taking me about 5 min to load a page.

BTW, jenzebelle is having the same problem, only worse...she can't even log in here now b/c it times out on her. she is also using win2k and ie over a lan connection.

neither of us even have aol installed on our machines, so i don't think it's an aol issue for us.

I don't even bother to try getting here unless I use IE.
Thanks to those trying to fix this !!!!

Going through AOL, it got to about 75% loaded before it stopped which is far more than the last week or so. I've been going through Internet Explorer. Today I keep having to log in every time I want to post an answer to a thread.

My inability to access the DIS through AOL hasn't caused my computer to freeze up but IE is slow today. I am typing far faster than the curser is moving.

Going thru AOL it went to about 90% and froze, that is a lot more than I have been able to do, I still have to get on IE to dis. I have windows 98 and AOL 8.0

I just tried going through AOL again and it froze everything up. I can get in fine using IE. I have Windows ME & AOL 8.0. Thanks for everything you are doing trying to resolve our problems.

I'm not on AOL but on cox-internet cable. I have used Netscape 7.0, IE 5.0, and Netscape 4.7 to access this board. (I have a Mac G3)

It is the countdown timers that slow me down. When I have signatures turned off, it loads quickly. I can imagine how hard it is for dialup users. Even when it loads OK, it still makes the scrolling slow down to a crawl. Pages where people have mutiple counters in their signature takes forever to load and then I can only scroll by clicking and waiting, clicking and waiting. I can't use the arrows on the side of the page to scroll. I once posted to the technical board about a page I couldn't load here. It seems that that particular page had almost 20 countdown timers. Maybe limiting the counters to 1 per person might help.

Alex,

Mine is still loading slow and freezing. If I go through IE it is fine. Just to point out this site is not the only site doing this for me. I am on AOL and a good 70% of my usual sites are doing this so my opinion is that it is AOL and not the DIS. I e-mailed Aol and they sent me a list a mile long of things I could do to try and fix this. Frankly I am fed up with AOL and will be changing service soon to another server. Hope this helps.

I'm usually okay getting on here except an occasional message to try later because the server's busy. I've got AOL. But there's a website I have to use for school that I always have a problem with. Our professor now tells us to just go in through IE. No problem then.
