For those going Thanksgiving week...

For those of you going Thanksgiving week 2010, Nov 20 -27 (give or a take a day). I have a question about possible discounts you were able to get. We are planning for Thanksgiving week 2011.

It looks like if you start your reservation by 11/18 you could get free dining for your stay. Did anyone do that?

It also looks like it is possible to get a room only discount up to 11/23. If you get a discount for the first few days of your stay can you extend it through 11/23 or does the discount just stop?

Any other discounts? Does AAA block out Thanksgiving week?

We are booked Nov 19-26. Got a room discount and upgraded to lagoon view at BC for $800 less than my original standard view ressie. Saved over $1500 for what this package would cost rack rate.

Great! Did you get the discount on ALL days of the trip or just the first 2? Did you get a pin code?

I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I got the 40% off monster pin code.

I was not able to use it on Saturday, because that was blocked out. Since I had already booked my flight, I booked the first day as a room only ressie and the remaining 7 days as a package with the pin code. I saved about $625.00, even though I had to pay rack rate for the room for the first day.

We are traveling Nov 19-27, and always go over Thanksgiving. This year we are using the Goofy pin for FD becuae we cannot get there on Thursday. As it is we are leaving Midday and arriving LATE Fri night. The room only discounts cannot be extended like FD. They are only good for the dates listed, so they are not a great choice if the bulk of your trip falls in the blackout like ours. I think we would have only gotten like 2-3 discounted days. If you start your trip by Thurs the 18th you could get GP FD for your whole trip. Other than pinned offers, those are the only 2 discounts I know about.

Yes, like the pp stated the Room only discount is only valid on the dates listed. It can not be extended for your whole trip.
You can get FD for your whole trip as long as you check-in during a FD Valid date.
OR you can do what we are doing this Thanksgiving: Rent DVC points.

We have the Goofy FD pin so if we decide to pull the trigger we will get the FD. We did this last year and really enjoyed it. Due to my recent eye surgery it is doubtful that we go this year. We only have a little over a week before the pin expires. I'm trying to rationalize a trip due to a need of something nice after a few months of being darn near blind, not really but it feels like it sometimes and naturally a lot of upheaval at work. I really need my annual Thanksgiving trip.

Tell me about the Goofy pin. Is that something they send you through e-mail? Is it a "special" free dining pin that you can use anytime? You do not have to be during the "free dining" dates? Thanks!
