For those DVC folks that DON'T go every year..what tickets do you get?

We have APs and 10 day tickets, about 10 years worth.

Since we don't spend as much time in the parks anymore, we use 10 day non expiration tickets that we buy from UCT using the MS discount the most.

The PAP deal ended up being perfect for us this year but I was thinking about buying the regular DVC discounts APs/PAPs for future visits (wish I had followed through before the price increase). The vouchers are good forever, until activated correct, just like tickets?

To answer the original question. We already had 2 week long trips planned so we got the PAPs for myself, DH & DD. DH & I will get 4 trips out of ours, F&W 2014, Dec 2014, Mar 2015 and F&W 2015. Then we won't renew and we'll buy new APs for DH & myself to do F&W 2016, Aug 2017 and F&W 2017. For the girls (youngest won't be free anymore :( ) my original plan was 10 day no expiration tickets but I bought 7 day park hoppers with water park visits. I was only going to get 6 day ones but I figured for $10 extra, I'd rather have the option for another day or half day (since we'll have APs). I did a lot of calculations to find price per day even if we used one less day than the ticket was for. Right now we still do the parks everyday we are there. When that stops, 5 day tickets or 10 day no expiration tickets might be a better fit for us to buy the kiddos. I guess it really just depends on how often you visit the parks during your stay. We bought from UT with the mousesavers discount but this ebates offer seems like a better deal right now.

You could go once a year but bump it up a week each year...that way you can use AP for 2 trips...then let them expire until the next trip. IE: go July 20-27 this year with AP and use it again next year from July 12-19. Don't renew but buy new ones in July 2016 and do the same (go July 24-31 and then July 16-23 in 2017). My SIL does that.

Unfortunately, we have kiddos in school and we won't travel in summer (did June once and not again, too HOT!). Spring break and fall break falls pretty much the same week each year so we can't stagger the trips up a week without pulling them out of school. I would absolutely love to be able to eek 2 trips out of an AP but can't get it to work with the way we travel. I have looked into this new PAP deal as we could apply our current hoppers to the price and come out with a decent deal. I just don't see us coming back next year. It costs too much to fly more often (more $$ each trip) but I always play with the numbers. Thanks for your insight. I appreciate all the help I can get. :flower:

We look for the best deal at the time and depending on what other things we are doing and how many days etc. last year the PAP deal was too good to pass up ( except it lead to two extra trips whoops). Next year we are doing East coast and West coast so we have decided not to buy any tickets at WDW to do the mini golf, pools, rent a boat and our favourite restaurants and shop. Park time we will have at Universal Orlando and Disneyland. It really varies trip to trip. Any more than ten night ( which would be the norm for us coming from Europe) and I would buy an annual pass of some kind.

I'd like to know too.

Vouchers/certificates are just like tickets, the media isn't activated until first used. I only list our current media on MDE and keep the extras in our Disney drawer. ::MickeyMo

That's what I thought but I didn't want to assume, dragged my feet too long and the prices went up on me. Oh well. I think I'll invest in a few to store in our safe. :)

We have visited WDW 18 times and purchased non-expire 10 day waterpark and more tickets only 3 times. We planned everything out each trip and always had great vacations. This year we bought the PAPs and I'm already getting stressed out about the number of trips we are making to WDW. Trying to save money has only cost us more money in airfare and rooms! This will be our last year for PAP.

I just purchased 10-day Water Park + No Expiration tickets through the Ebates/Orbitz deal that ended yesterday (~$565 each). That should last us a while, but we'll probably buy regular tickets if we're going to be there more than 2-3 days at a time.

Yep, AP certificates. We schedule our stays in cycles, matching the media to our schedule. We also match the resorts to the parks that we intend to visit. BWV for Epcot and DHS, VGF or VWL for the MK. Currently AKV and the AK is off our list.

Curious: Why is AK, and therefore AKV, currently off your list?

Just got 2 of the 10day non expiring hoppers yesterday from ebates/orbitz for $616. each and our hoppers usually last us 8-9 trips.

Wow, I have read people say they make a 10 day non-expiring last 4-5 trips, but 8-9 trips!!!!!! That really has to be a record.
Do you live nearby? Can't imagine $400-$1,000 airfare and only go to the parks one day when you are right there, staying in DVC resorts.

Just personal preference. We have enjoyed the resorts and park but like some others, we don't find ourselves excited to stay or visit there. AKV has been a mixed bag for us. AK has always been a park of low attendance and Jambo gave up the 5th floor to DVC due to low bookings.

Club level at Jambo has poor views and the other amenities are just so, so. We have had room and housekeeping issues, and the lounge offerings are OK but really no big deal. The views from the other rooms at Kidani and Jumbo have also been mixed. Sometimes you get a good one and sometimes you get birds. :goodvibes

We kind of feel that way. We have stayed on the Kidani side twice... Once in a 2br savanna view and a studio savanna view. The studio view was not great. I would like a CS place on that side too. I mean we can have a great time at any DVC resort and I am glad we have choices but we will choose another resort if available.

Shoot, it looks like I saw this a day to late. They are now $770.00. I need one of these for my husband who can only get away for 4 days including the weekend every year. This ticket would last him 3 visits easily.

We go in cycles with AP's. So this is a Disney cycle year - bought and used AP's in Dec. and will go again for Thanksgiving with AP's. Then we will not go back until Dec. 2016! We will still go to HHI using DVC during our non Disney time.

We have always bought the 10-day no expire PH's and they last us 2-3 trips. In Dec 2012, we bought the DVC AP through the deal they offered and it's worked out well for us this year so we may do that going forward but we don't always know when we're going back until 8-9 months prior to our trip so we'd really have to plan further ahead than we usually do if we get the AP's again.
