Last week I found out that I have another ovarian cyst. I had a simple ovarian cyst almost 10 years ago and had to have it removed because it was just getting bigger and bigger by the minute.

I made an appointment with my GYN about 2 weeks ago because of some pain and my cycles were becoming irregular, shorter, just weird. She ordered an ultrasound and sure enough they found a cyst.

This cyst is a complex cyst, different from the one I had last time, and the GYN told me I need to go back for another ultrasound in 6 weeks. Of course she also said if anything changes to let her know right away.

I should have asked more questions when I talked to her but honestly i didn't even know what to ask. I didn't even ask how big it was when she said "pretty large" :confused3

I'm just thinking that I really dont want to have to have surgery again, the last time I spent almost a week in the hospital and that was not fun. DH & I are also TTC and this pretty much just feels like a slap in the face.:headache:

So at this point I'm not really sure where we go from here or what to expect, anyone go through this?

Just had surgery a week ago for two complex cysts (endometrioma). We did the wait and see approach, but it continued to grow. Good luck it's no fun!!!
I have had three cysts rupture and would not wish that on anyone.

How long did you wait and watch before you ended up having surgery? The last cyst I had was only 2 or 3 months before I had it removed

Ive had cycts burst and it was horrendous.

I almost passed out for the pain when one went, and I was driving at the time.

I also had to have my right ovary and tube removed...no biggy...wasnt planning on using it !! ;)

I know surgery is not fun but I would be in like a shot to get any more removed.

I waited too long!!!! I started having trouble last May. They said let's watch for 3 months and see if they change. They did and I scheduled surgery and then backed out. I should have done it back then because the endometriosis had spred to everything including my colon. O'well live and learn, but feel much better already. (I did lose one ovary and half the other because the cyst had taken them over_

You mentioned you were ttc-- well we were unsuccessful for almost 2 years of ttc and when I finally went to the RE (repro. endocrinologist) and I had an endometrioma (big ol' cyst on my ovary), polyps, and endo (and other crap, long story). If your Dr. suggests it-- go with the surgery in case there's anything else they can "clean up" while they're in there. We conceived the first cycle post-surgery. :thumbsup2

The recovery isn't awful-- the first 2 days are crappy, then you're going to be feeling normal again. Well worth it if you ask me!

I'm just nervous to have surgery, the last time I had a cyst removed it was supposed to be day surgery and it didn't work out that way, I ended up in the hospital for almost a week :headache: And I missed a month of school :headache:

When I had the last surgery the doc told me that I have endometriosis as well but not how bad it was or anything.

DH & I are also switching health insurance next month so I'm sure I will have to go through all of this testing again then anyway :confused3
