For the first time - NO BLISTERS!!!

I have been "crippled" every other trip to WDW with blisters! I tried everything, including the anti-perspirant on the feet. My kids used to take pictures of my feet all taped and bandaged. But, on this 7-day stay - and walking in the parks 8-12 hours a day - I did not have a single blister or foot problem of any kind!

I remembered reading in an Army survival manual that wearing nylon socks inside wool socks protected the feet by "wicking" moisture from the feet and prevented friction. I found a brand of sock called "WrightSock" that works on this principal. It is double-layered but still very thin and keeps you feet dry and reduces friction. They have a website (wrightsock.com) and I bought them at REI (rei.com). I also wore some newer New Balance walking shoes that fit snuggly. Things couldn't have gone better.

Unless you've walked for days on blistered feet and toes, you cannot understand the thrill of finding a "cure" like this. Before you think I have a vested interest in this sock, I work for an insurance company and found them by searching the web.

My family got so tired of ending each day of this trip with Dad exclaiming "Look at these feet! No blisters!" - better than the alternative from the past.

I hope I can return the Moleskins, adhesive tape, powders, etc. that I also brought with me, just in case. Hope you have as good of results.

Thanks for the post
i am always dealing with blisters at WDW

i'll give your solution a try

glad you had a good trip

I can get a blister just walking around the mall! So I understand the joy you must have had with no blisters!! I found the moleskin works for me. But thank you for sharing what works for you! Hopefully, it can help others!

Well ...I am new to this forum, I have been reading these posts for a few days now, because we are going to mk and universal in just over 2 weeks!!!! Any ways, this tip about these "wicking" socks was awesome!!!!!!! I always end up with 2 or 3 huge water blisters on my feet. That is from just a one day trip to mk.Well..... I went right on over to rei.com and ordered these socks for my husband, myself and two kids!!! I can't wait to be blister free at the end of two days!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THE AWESOME TIP!!!

St.LouisFan,

Congatulations, I know what you mean.

On our trip to WDW last September I had a blister so large, my sister kept asking me when I was going to give birth?

Next trip I didn't get usual pedicure just polished toes...and no blisters I guess my pedicurist was scrubbing too much skin off...So now no more pedicures just before trips when I will be walking.

oooooo....GOOD POINT! I've actually never had a pedicure in my life (I have pretty ugly feet, didn't want to subject anyone to that!) but I was thinking of going for a pedi before our trip on Friday (becuase I haven't polished my toes properly since October!) But you make a lot of sense...wanna keep that thick skin for all the walking...in my new - :earseek: sneaks.

Thanks!

Welcome, jths98!

I too used to be limping after the first full day at the MK. We have pictures that my kids took of the feet after a few days - all tape and bandages. This trip the socks saved me.

Another tip I kept hearing is to make sure your shoes fit well. If your feet slide or slip in the shoe, friction will get you. And bring an extra pair of socks to the park just in case your feet get wet on Splash Mountain, etc.

Good luck and let me know how you do. I was so excited that I wrote a note to the sock company.

Another plug for Wright Sock running socks. I've never gotten a blister when wearing those. I've had great luck with the well padded Thorlo running mini crew socks, too.

Good socks are the key to pain free Disney vacation for me. I used the blanch at the thought of paying eight or nine dollars for a pair of socks, but, like well made shoes, they're well worth it.
