Do you tip the room steward more because there is more work involved or do you figure you are paying for it because of the jump in price--I've read here about what they make and I'm wondering what to do here. We have stayed in a suite before and tipped only suggested amount because the service was okay, but not excellent. Also my brother's 2 boys may stay with us a few nights instead of in their room--should I tip extra because of that?thanks for the help.

If you have "extra" guests staying staying in your room, then I would definitely tip extra. Also tip according to the level of service with the "recommended" being the minimum for normal service.

Not sure but I would expect that concierge level stateroom hosts would be higher on the pay scale than the regular stateroom hosts because of more experience, etc.

Bottom line, a tip is a reward for service. Better/more service = better tip.

We were in a Cat 2 the two times we've sailed Disney so far.
From what I learned from other relatives that were in lower categories, our room steward didn't do any more than theirs did....except, he had three beds to make, three bathrooms to clean, and more towel animals to make. I therefore added extra to the recommended tip. I think it's only proper.....if they have more work to do, and you can afford to be in a suite, then you can (and should) tip extra.
The only reason that I would think this would not apply is if you had terrible service, and I do mean terrible, not the average things that are expected of the room stewards.

Our room was at least double the size of a regular room, it was always very clean and well kept, we doubled the recommended tip.

Thanks-have you all tipped the concierge also and do you mind saying how much, not sure what to do about that.
