How long does it take you to get to WDW? We live near Greensboro, NC.

We are going in November and we have 5 year old. Just wondering what time she needs to go to be and then get up the next morning. We want to start out early.

Thanks,
Erin's Mom

We live in Lumberton. It takes 8 1/2 to 9 hours from here. That's with stopping a couple of times.

We drive from Kernersville, usually leaving on a Friday afternoon at 1 or so. It takes us 9 hours on the nose, every time.

Hey NCBUZZ,

I grew up in Lumberton but now I live in Charlotte. My wife and kids are planning a trip next week for the first time. We will probably just visit MK. I have been but it has been 30 years. My wife and her kids have never been.

I figured that it was a little over 8 hours if you drive without stopping. We plan to spend the night in Savannah on the way down so the drive will not seem so bad, but on the way back we will be driving the whole 8 + hours.

gyver65,
We're stopping in Jacksonville, Fla. with the same strategy. My oldest son is 15 and he has been to WDW 9 times. His little brother is 2. He went to Disneyland last year but this will be his first trip to WDW. You won't believe the changes when you go. You'll have such a wonderful time. I grew up on the coast, near Swansboro but moved to Lumberton for business 17 years ago. I hope you and your family have a fabulous trip!!!!

We live in Raleigh. We drive quite often. It takes us between 81/2 and 10 hours depending on traffic and when we stop.

As you know I am about 2hrs from Lumberton so you do the math!

If DW is driving, we tend to get there faster. She will set the car on warp speed quicker than I will!

We really like to leave around 6 in the morning. I know it is early, but 95 does not seem to be packed and racked at that time!

Just promise to waive as you go through. But you may go down to 95 rather than through Raleigh!

If it is your first time in 30 yrs you will not think you are at the same place!

MY DS is 20 and has been 40+ times. In fact he is there now on the College Program. We will not discuss his mother!!!

Have a great time!

We live on the coast of NC ( Cape Hatteras to be exact) It takes us 12 hrs, to make the trip.

This is great news! We are leaving in less than three weeks from Cary (outside Raleigh) and Yahoo maps said it would take 11 hours plus stopping time. On the way down we are staying two nights in Savannah - a mini vacation before the big vacation. I thought we would have a 12 or more hour day on the way back but I guess it goes more quickly than that. Woo-hoo!

If you are interested, send me a PM and I will share our trip secrets with you for the road trip. We have particular stops we think are good. If you are a AAA member call and get a trip tik map. It will help you track your progress.

While I live in Raleigh I work in Cary! Small world!

My DD and family come down from Wilmington and it is 8 hours, plus one more from my house to WDW.

Hey erinsmom,

I'm in Summerfield, and it usually takes 10.5 to 11 hours, depending on traffic. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions about your trip. I'm in the phone book.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

From Charlotte, we can do it in 8 1/2 hours and that includes potty breaks and drive thru's. And that time is garage to WL parking lot. And it takes 30 minutes just to get out of Charlotte from our house.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi to all the other North Carolinians who road trip to WDW. I've noticed I can make it from Rougemont (north of Durham) to WDW in about 10 - 11 hours but the return trip always takes me 11-12. I think the center of gravity must be in Magic Kingdom and the pull makes the trip down faster!:teeth:

I'm flying this month but with all the people responding we almost have enough to charter a bus! :p

Carolyn

Hey! I'm in Western NC (near Asheville), but I'd be willing to go on that "charter bus"!! ;) Let's go!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
